    Operator (NPE) x70

    Purpose of Job

    • To assemble non-electric delay initiation systems on a manual assembly machine

    Key Accountabilities

    • Crimping & Blocking of the Explosives.
    • Coiling of the shock tube.
    • Sealing & Tagging of the Explosives.
    • Explosives Packaging.
    • Assemble different products according to the specification on the lot traveller. Competency required on all different assembly machines (crimping machine, coiling machine, sealing machine, tagging machine). Operators may be required to operate to machines simultaneously. 
    • Do quality checks on assembled products to ensure that all units meet specified customer requirements. 
    • Do stock count on all the raw materials in the production area. 
    • Bundle, count and pack assembled units in boxes according to specified requirements as stipulated on the lot traveller. 
    • General housekeeping inside the assembly area. 
    • Do measurements of specifications using relevant measuring tools and capture information on the lot traveller e.g.  Vernier calliper. 
    • Adjust the settings of the  equipment/ machine according to the specific product specifications as indicated on the lot traveller. 
    • Operators are also required to report on daily production and breakdowns. 
    • Manually updating production graphs after daily production on the wall next to each production cell.

    Time Study Oficer 1

    Purpose of Job

    • To study data and specifications to determine operating standards and measure the effectiveness of employees and facilities

    Key Accountabilities

    • Analyse work study data and equipment specifications to establish reasonable time and production standards Survey on-site operations and monitor production to measure and improve plan vs actual (e.g. record time needed to finish one operation). Observe and analyse personnel and work procedures to determine time-and-motion requirements Conduct time-and-motion studies to identify weaknesses and propose enhancements of the overall efficiency and cost savings relative to employees and facilities.
    • Develop and implement practices and programmes to enable the most efficient use of production staff.
    • Apply mathematical analysis to determine the validity and reliability of sampling and work study statistics.
    • Report on-site surveying activities and provide recommendations to improve productivity and utilisation of personnel and facilities Complete tasks efficiently in compliance with the BU and Sasol Groups safety and risk objectives. Continuously improve own skills and knowledge.
    • Complete, implement, and track personal development plan to attain personal performance goals

    Formal Education

    • University Bachelors Degree

    Purpose of Job

    Key Accountabilities

    • Business Insight Translation: Translate business challenges into relevant data science solutions that drive decision-making for both operational and strategic initiatives.
    • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Analyze complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns and actionable insights, supporting improvement of business outcomes.

    Quality Control Inspector

    Purpose of Job

    • To implement, maintain and control the quality management processes in the Machine Final Assembly and repair workshop throughout the stripping, parts evaluation and assessment, assembly and testing processes. Also to assist the QC flameproof inspector in his section with flameproof inspections and measurements of flameproof enclosures.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Manage the in-section quality control process (Quality plans, inspections and mechanical test reports).
    • Perform customer / product scope of work inspection (Ensure SOW complies with design and standardization specifications).
    • Final inspect product to ensure compliance with SOW, QC standards and statutory requirements.
    • Perform brake tests on machines.
    • Perform parts evaluation on used / new parts by visual inspections & dimensional measurements.
    • Perform specialized inspections. (liquid penetrant and magnetic particle testing).
    • Drafting new, maintain and compiling of bills of materials for all products.
    • Visit each workstation/task in progress daily to familiarize yourself with the quality of work in progress. (The aim is to be preventive by identifying poor workmanship / deviations that could lead to rework further in the process). • Compile repair requests with detail specifications for internal & external repairs.
    • Perform QC statistic measurement. (Rework, failure analysis, fault concentration etc.)
    • Manage drawing control to shop floor & red line revisions on drawings.
    • Compile QC data packs and distribute to customers.
    • Develop, implement, and improve repair standards (product improvement).
    • Interact and visit external suppliers on outsourced products. (scope of work, QC inspections)
    • Perform root cause & failure analysis / report writing.
    • Perform underground inspections and fault finding on equipment and machines.
    • Design and develop hydraulic diagrams
    • Warranty claim investigations
    • Design and compiling of machine parts manuals

    Formal Education

    • Grade 12/ N3 with Mathematics, Physical Science and English 
    • Trade Test Certificate (Electro Mechanic)

    • To provide continuous input and support into maintenance, refurbishment, and project planning activities applicable to various business units. To apply the planning principles at an operation level following the Work Management Process (WMP).
