    Senior Civil Wind Engineer

    Why this role matters

    • As a Senior Civil Engineer – Wind, you will lead and coordinate the civil engineering work that underpins utility-scale wind projects across development, structuring, execution, and operations.
    • You will guide geotechnical, hydrological, structural, roads, drainage, and foundation-related assessments and designs, ensuring that project risks are identified early and translated into practical, technically robust solutions. You will also support the Engineering Manager and help develop junior and mid-level engineers and draughting resources.

    What you’ll be doing

    In this role, you will lead civil engineering activities across wind projects and provide technical direction to internal teams, consultants, contractors, and suppliers, including:

    • Lead geological, topographical, hydrological, and geotechnical due diligence and define appropriate site investigation and laboratory testing programmes
    • Assess civil risks during development, including wind turbine foundations, roads and pavements, drainage, buildings, slopes, retaining structures, and site-specific constructability constraints
    • Manage civil quantities and bills of quantities, and contribute technical specifications and civil requirements to project base cases and business cases
    • Support procurement by preparing and evaluating civil RFP documentation, clarifying supplier responses, and completing technical due diligence on turbine foundation and substructure solutions
    • Coordinate and review detailed civil engineering designs, ensuring that risks and requirements identified during development and structuring are incorporated into construction documentation
    • Support project execution through design assurance, quality control, site input, pull-out test supervision, design change reviews, and resolution of civil engineering matters
    • Work across engineering, development, supply chain, construction, operations, contractors, technical advisors, and other stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, and buildable solutions
    • Manage and mentor civil engineering supervisors and junior engineers, support professional registration, and lead technical knowledge-sharing within the civil team

    What you’ll bring

    Experience and qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and professional engineering registration, or an equivalent Chartered Engineer registration
    • 8+ years’ civil engineering experience, including at least 3 years’ experience in solar and wind energy
    • Demonstrated design management experience across complex civil infrastructure, including foundations, drainage, roads, pavements, structures, and buildings
    • Strong capability in at least three relevant disciplines, such as geotechnical, hydrological, structural, roads, or pavement engineering
    • Experience with civil design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, PLAXIS, Rocscience, Prokon, GIS, or equivalent software
    • Fluent written and spoken English and French, a valid driver’s licence, and the ability to travel internationally and work extended hours when projects require it

    HV & BESS Supervisor (12 Month Contract)

    Why this role matters

    • This role provides hands-on supervision of all high-voltage (HV) and transmission-line activities at the Thakadu site. You will monitor construction progress, identify and report deviations in quality, time, cost, and HSSE, coordinate contractors and site disciplines, and support the PV electrical scope when required.

    What you’ll be doing

    In this role, you will:

    • Supervise HV and transmission-line construction activities and engage daily with contractors and sub-suppliers on site.
    • Monitor physical progress each day and report deviations relating to quality, schedule, cost, and HSSE.
    • Work with the planning team to evaluate completion forecasts and require action or recovery plans from contractors when needed.
    • Oversee electrical works including cables, MV transformers, communication systems, lighting, CCTV, earthing systems, connection boxes, and commissioning activities.
    • Coordinate with Civil and Mechanical Supervisors on the HV and transmission-line scope, and align site supervision activities.
    • Coordinate Mechanical Completion and commissioning interfaces between disciplines, contractors, and key equipment suppliers.
    • Review construction documentation, including method statements, and obtain engineering review or approval where required.
    • Lead HV and transmission-line pre-construction meetings, manage technical queries, and ensure construction uses the latest approved drawings, manuals, and specifications.
    • Your work will support safe, high-quality delivery and successful commissioning at Thakadu.

    • Experience and qualifications
    • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering.
    • At least 5 years' experience working with high-voltage equipment and systems and/or transmission lines.
    • At least 3 years' EPC experience on medium- to large-scale construction projects.
    • At least 1 year of solar PV experience; a specialisation in solar or renewable energy is advantageous.
    • Fluent written and spoken English.
    • Strong knowledge of HV and transmission-line industry best practices.
    • Knowledge of quality-control systems, root-cause analysis, and Pareto analysis.
    • Relevant experience with grid operators and regulatory organisations is advantageous.
    • A results-oriented, proactive, collaborative communicator who prioritises independently and works well in a site team.
    • Willing and able to be based at the Thakadu site in Orkney, South Africa; local travel may be required.

    Technical Development Manager - LYRA Energy

    Why this role matters

    • As the Technical Development Manager this role provides the senior technical engine behind the composition and optimisation of Lyra Energy’s generation portfolio.
    • The Senior Technical resource leads the holistic technical design of generation assets and their optionality, produces the technical solutions that underpin generator structuring and CPPA offers, and works alongside the Transaction Manager to ensure each project’s technical and commercial design are optimised together. 
    • This role is the Technical authority on plant configuration, yield, performance and dispatch, and interfaces with Operations and the digital platform so that the as-designed portfolio can be operated, forecast and optimised in the market.

    What you’ll be doing

    In this role, you will lead the technical composition and optimisation of Lyra’s generation portfolio:

    • Configuring technology mix, sizing and hybridisation (solar, wind, BESS) across the generation assets to maximise value and performance
    • Drive holistic project design and optionality from a technical standpoint, modelling configurations that allow assets to serve multiple customers, tenors and market routes
    • Support generator structuring, providing the technical inputs to the EPC and project-finance processes, lender technical due diligence and the independent engineer interface
    • Support customer engagement and negotiation, providing the technical basis for CPPA offers – yield, availability, performance guarantees and shaping profiles
    • Produce design support, developing the technical solution and the technical content of the CPPA
    • Interface with Operations and the digital platform, ensuring the as-designed plant translates into accurate forecasting, dispatch optimisation, metering and performance monitoring

    • 5+ years’ broad experience working within an integrated IPP, with in-house Development, Management and Operations
    • Strong production-modelling, optimisation and quantitative analysis skills (e.g. PVsyst, energy-yield and BESS dispatch modelling)
    • Proven track record delivering technical solutions on grid-scale and behind-the-meter projects
    • Strong comfort in Excel optimisation models and Python / SQL for technical analytics, with BI tools (PowerBI / Tableau) for time-series and load-profile data, to support project-finance and trading analysts
