    Project Coordinator: Graduate Recruitment

    Duties/Pligte        

    • Organising and managing the annual graduate recruitment programme, particularly the annual career fairs.
    • Managing contract staff during the graduate recruitment programme.
    • Advising employers on the best way forward to address their needs and deciding on a recruitment strategy.
    • Publishing the annual graduate recruitment programme.
    • Co-managing the third money stream income of the UGCS.
    • Managing communication and marketing of career opportunities to students via mailshots with job opportunities and career resources to targeted student groups.
    • Assisting with recruiting representatives for panel discussions and networking events such as Career Khulumas.
    • Collaborating with student bodies, faculties, and departments to promote UGCS networking services.
    • Collaborating with faculties and academic departments to arrange World of Work events/presentations.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • Bachelor's degree/advanced diploma in Industrial Psychology, Recruitment, Human Resources Management, or a related field.
    • At least three years' relevant experience in graduate recruitment or HE career services.
    • A strong understanding of recruitment and selection processes.
    • Proficiency in social media and marketing.
    • At least three years' experience in organising exhibition/career network events.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and another official South African language (bilingual proficiency preferred).
    • Strong computer literacy and information management skills.
    • Organisational, presentation, and conflict management skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and professionalism.
    • Good project management skills
    • Computer skills in the MS-Office environment.

    Dean of Students

    Duties/Pligte        

    The Dean of Students assumes overarching responsibility for:

    • Providing strategic leadership for the Responsibility Centre: Dean of Students, aligned with SU's Vision 2040 and strategic frameworks.
    • Promoting a holistic and transformative student experience that integrates academic success, wellbeing, leadership, and social impact.
    • Overseeing Student Counselling and Development and Student Life and Learning across all SU Campuses, ensuring excellence in support services, residence life, and student development.
    • Strengthening student governance structures and cultivating leadership opportunities that contribute to institutional transformation and social cohesion.
    • Building strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships - internally across Responsibility Centres, Faculties and Schools, and externally with government, national and international higher education bodies, and civil society - to advance student success and institutional impact.
    • Building intentional and strong relationships with students and student leadership, ensuring effective sharing of feedback with the senior leadership of the University and students, and making appropriate proposals arising from that feedback.
    • Managing the budget, human resources, and overall operational effectiveness of the Responsibility Centre in alignment with institutional policy.
    • Providing visible and accessible leadership within the student community, fostering a culture of respect, engagement, and accountability.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • A Doctorate degree.
    • At least ten years' relevant experience, with at least seven or eight years in a senior management level position, with a demonstrated track record of full management responsibility for a functional Unit, Centre or Responsibility Centre within a higher education environment.
    • Proven capacity to provide dynamic and strategic leadership in the area of responsibility.
    • Evidence of national and/or international outputs in respect of student development as a theme for own research-based practice for professional development.
    • Proven ability to develop and sustain strategically relevant institutional partnerships and alliances at national as well as international level.
    • Excellent communication, conflict handling and facilitation skills in a diverse environment.
    • Negotiation skills.
    • Sound interpersonal relations and the ability to take the lead within a team.
    • The ability to contribute to institutional redress through the accelerated diversification of the staff and the student corps.
    • High level of emotional intelligence and professional discretion.
    • Financial acumen.
    • Managerial skills, including the ability to direct, supervise, coordinate, and review the activities of direct reports, teams or individuals in a large complex environment. 
    • A solid understanding of the South African higher education sector as well as the national and international realities relating to student leadership in this sector.
    • The position requires the incumbent to reside on campus to ensure a visible and engaged presence within the University community, including availability after hours and on weekends, as necessitated by the responsibilities of the role and the needs of the student population.
    • The ability to function effectively within a multilingual and multicultural environment, in accordance with the University's language policy.

    Associate Professor

    Duties/Pligte        

    • Teaching, learning and assessment of allocated undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes.
    • Contributing to the development and implementation of programmes, curriculum review and curriculum building activities.
    • Research supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate (master's and doctoral) students as allocated.
    • Conducting own research, disseminating research outputs, and translating knowledge.  
    • Providing collaborative leadership to develop and implement a departmental research strategy.
    • Participating in social impact projects, -service delivery, and rendering appropriate services in the institution, Faculty and Department context where required.
    • Securing research grants and contributing to other revenue streams.
    • Participating in national and international meetings/committees/ conferences/papers/projects.
    • Participating in the internationalisation efforts of the institution and Department.
    • Participating in departmental committee structures and research capacity building.
    • Coaching and mentoring of junior staff.
    • Academic and programme management and administration.
    • Participating in and contributing to the quality assurance of the allocated programmes.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • PhD on NQF Level 10 in Nursing.
    • Registration with the SANC as a professional nurse and midwife, nurse educator, assessor and moderator. 
    • Candidates must be in good standing, with a satisfactory performance record.
    • At least four years' teaching experience with undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes in an academic tertiary institution.
    • At least five years' recent clinical and/or professional experience.  
    • Evidence of successful external and/or internal research funding as a primary or co-investigator. Project management of research.
    • Evidence as an external examiner for master's and doctoral students.
    • Record of successful research supervision of masters' and doctoral students.
    • Proven research and publication record in journals (at least 15 - 20).
    • Evidence of participation in national committees, boards, forums and councils.
    • Involvement in internationalisation collaborative activities, projects, research or boards.
    • Proven leadership ability.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling        

    • Additional qualification(s) in a clinical nursing programme as registered with the SANC.
    • Demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • Proven record of securing international research grants.
    • Demonstrated leadership within the current Department or Faculty, including mentoring junior academics, contributing to transformation initiatives, and serving on institutional or national  committees.
    • Evidence of community engagement or social impact initiatives that integrate teaching, research, and service in ways that advance public health and nursing practice.
    • Demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, including curriculum design, use of contemporary pedagogical approaches, and development of a comprehensive teaching portfolio.
