    Manager, Communication, Public and Media Relations

    PURPOSE:

    • To create and foster an environment which enables investors and other stakeholders to understand why Exxaro shares are the preferred shares to invest in, relative to industry peers, by setting a high quality, long-term vision for internal and external communication, managing public relations, ensuring coherent and consistent messaging, and promoting a culture of thought leadership, and out-of-box thinking to achieve Exxaro’s strategic objectives
    • Facilitate the use, development and introduction of new technologies, processes, and strategies to improve communication and ensure that the channels used are effective and enable stakeholder engagement for the conveyance of the Exxaro message
    • Keeping abreast of news and other media developments in the mining, energy, macroeconomic and political sectors and implementing these to improve the company's efficiency, safety, and sustainability through effective communication to inform decision making, inform business strategy and ensure that business is able to share a compelling vision of Exxaro to attract investors and other stakeholders
    • Analysing the risks associated with a poor/ineffective communication strategies, brand management, stakeholder engagement or processes and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
    • Work with other departments within the company (e.g., Operations, Marketing, HR, Finance, Sustainable Impact, IM) to integrate effective, innovative communications, brand managements and public relations practices which foster a culture supportive of building and maintain long-term relationships of trust to enable stakeholders to invest and work with us.
    • Bring a focus to create a clear relationship between audience and channels, balance media and social content to match comms priorities, use high quality content to consistently reach key audiences, and appropriate use of social spend to target key audiences and regions to create business value.
    • Oversees the development, implementation and embalmment of the group brand, engagement, and communication strategy and related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the desired objectives.
    •  Identify and track emerging trends to understand how these trends could impact the business and how the business can leverage them to strengthen and protect Exxaro’s credibility and reputation.
    •  Set, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of the communications, public relations and media strategies implemented.
    • To manage all aspects of data collection, analysis, and interpretation to drive efficiency and operational effectiveness within the Group

    Senior Specialist, Occ Health and Hygiene

    PURPOSE:

    • To identify and control the impact of health hazards across the group and within the communities in which we operate to as low as reasonably practicable
    • To co-ordinate the occupational health and hygiene function by providing strategic specialist support, guidance and oversight to the group’s operations and occupational health and hygienist functions at various operations.
    • To provide direct health and hygiene specialist operational support for mines in rehabilitation and closure in line with the Group’s occupational health strategy.
    • To create and track a preventative link between occupational health and hygiene through the development of strategies, frameworks and standards.
    • To appoint and manage external occupational health and hygiene service providers in line with Exxaro’s minimum standards.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • 10-12 years Proven experience in a leadership and operational role within the Occupational Health, Hygiene and Primary Healthcare fields, preferably in the mining, heavy industry, or related sectors.
    • Strong understanding of emerging health and hygiene risks in underground and surface mining operations, and within the community.
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing healthcare related strategies, frameworks, and standards.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at various levels of the organisation.      

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Business Performance and Operations:   

    • Provide day-to-day occupational health and hygiene operational support for mines in closure
    • Coordinate group occupational health and hygiene functions reporting at all sites
    • Lead the development of the group wide integrated occupational health hygiene strategy, frameworks, standards and processes, governance, audits and reporting requirements
    • Develop service level agreement with external health and hygiene service providers and evaluate implementation of the service level agreements for mines in closure and rehabilitation
    • Support manager in assessing risks to health arising from many different factors and refer employees to medical facilities, if required, to ensure employee’s occupational health concerns are identified and addressed
    • Execute occupation health and hygiene system implementation and received directives to ensure that all incident data relating to employee health is captured
    • Drive the participation of the Company in the implementation of training programs to for compliance with Occupational Health and Hygiene, standards, frameworks and Regulations
    • Coordinate the execution and reporting of internal and external audits and facilitate the implementation of corrective action to proactively minimise the impact of occupational health hazards
    • Facilitate a group wide implementation of Occupational health and hygiene standards
    • Represent the Company at Chamber of Mines hygiene meetings
    • Standardize implementation of leading practises and lessons learned across the group
    • Support business units in contracting occupational health and hygiene service providers and review all reports submitted by such service providers

    Compliance, Governance and Assurance:    

     

    • Provide in-depth analysis on occupational health and hygiene data and in conjunction with other business indicators to continuously improve occupational health standards to monitor compliance to internal and legal/statutory requirements
    • Provide an oversight role in implementation of external requirements from all the bodies Exxaro is affiliated with such as, FTSE, SABCOHA, MASOYISE,etc
    • Participate and lead tier 2 audits and assist individual business units to prepare for the tier 3 audits.
    • Ensure compliance to Mine Health and Safety Act, Group guidelines and Mine standards through external legal compliance audits

    Customer, Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management:    

     

    • Provide support to the customer in the development of occupational health and hygiene services framework and processes for central repository management
    • Assist in the evaluation of discipline-specific standards, principles and practice to enable planning, design and implementation of safe outcomes that support the business strategy

    Effective People Management    

    • Manage Senior Occupational Nurse and Occupational Nurses' Key Performance Areas (KPA’s)
    • Proactively anticipate future occupational and primary health service requirements
    • Draft and implement strategies to optimise staffing and services

    Manager, Investor Relations

    PURPOSE:

    • To foster an environment which enables investors and other stakeholders to understand why Exxaro shares are the preferred shares to invest in, relative to industry peers, by setting a high quality, long- term vision for the Investor Relations function.
    • Facilitate understanding of Exxaro’s investment thesis and long-term value proposition to attract new investors and retain existing investors and financial stakeholders by sharing a compelling and accurate message about Exxaro’s operational, financial performance and growth prospects

    Governance & Processes:  

    • Implement governance systems and processes to drive and facilitate corporate communication
    • Develop, implement and continuously improve all investor relations policies and procedures
    • Provide assurance regarding the application of investor relations standards, processes, and best practices
    • Ensure all communications, reports and initiatives are delivered in accordance with regulatory requirements and Corporate Communications policies, guidelines, procedures etc.
    • Adhere to sound corporate governance principles and address discrepancies
    • Maintain transparency and adherence to best practices

    Investor relations strategy development:    

    • Articulate and maintain the Group’s investor relations strategy clearly aligning the organisational objectives with the investor (including analysts and shareholders) relations strategic objectives
    • Continuously test alignment of the investor relations strategy  with the organisational priorities, investor priorities, concerns and requests, and market opportunities
    • Collaborate with Corporate Finance, Corporate Secretariate and other functions to ensure that the strategic objectives of the company align and are complementary with the investor relations strategies
    • Develop an annual investor engagement plan, linked to the investor relations strategy, encompassing a view of the proactive scheduled engagements, content to be presented, and individuals needed to disseminate / execute the plan
