    Civil Infrastructure Engineer

    Job description

    • Provide technical support for senior engineers on proposals, studies and projects
    • Produce engineering deliverables, including designs and technical documents
    • Promote health, safety, security and environmental well-being through working in an appropriate manner
    • Work independently and produce engineering deliverables inclusive of enquiries, specifications, designs, reports and schedules of quantities
    • Steer the production of drawings through the design office
    • Uphold and promote compliance with standards and procedures
    • Produce indicator statistics for engineering and construction
    • Prepare progress reports, with statistics and milestones, highlighting any significant issues
    • Ensure all correspondence and discussions relevant to engineering and costing are recorded
    • Visit site as necessary in the course of producing the engineering deliverables
    • Review and comment on internal design documents across disciplines
    • Review and comment on third-party documents

    Skills / Qualifications

    • BSc degree or similar
    • 5-15 years’ experience in general civil infrastructure including the following services:
    • Roads
    • Earthworks
    • Drainage
    • Sewer reticulation
    • Small earth dams
    • The experience should include design, specifications and enquiry documentation. The candidate must be capable of producing engineering documents in sound technical English
    • Professional registration will be preferable; eligibility for registration is a minimum requisite.

    The following would be an advantage:

    • Experience with installation of proprietary systems such as gabions and dam liners
    • Previous history of procuring and managing specialist services such as geotechnical, ground improvement and survey
    • Awareness of quality assurance procedures
    • Experience with design software

    Junior Mechanical Designer

    Job description

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Junior Mechanical Designer with experience in the Mining and Metals industry.

    • Responsible for detailed design and production of mechanical drawings encompassing all aspects of a plant construction package in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements
    • Ensure timely completion of mechanical drawings to schedules
    • Adhere to project man-hour budgets
    • Adhere to Wood Standards and Procedures
    • Do miscellaneous tasks such as vendor works inspections, material take-offs

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Minimum of 2 years’ mechanical design draughting experience in the mining and mineral processing area
    • Some knowledge of fabrication, construction and operations
    • Good understanding of mechanical technology
    • Understanding of other discipline requirements
    • Checking skills with ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion, initiative
