    Alumni Relations Manager

    Job Description

     Our Business Development Unit (BDU) is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified person to the position of Alumni Relations Manager. This position will be responsible, the management of alumni relations for the GSB. This position will plan and implement projects that strategically engage alumni and industry in strengthening various GSB activities providing tangible benefits to alumni and the GSB as a whole.

    Reporting to the Head: Alumni Relations and Careers Service, the Alumni Relations Manager will be responsible for:

    • Serving as an ambassador of the GSB to the student, alumni and other communities
    • Developing a sustainable pipeline of partnerships and stakeholder relationships
    • Overseeing the planning and delivery of alumni engagement
    • Marketing & Communication (including writing newsletter, social media features) of all related activities
    • Collaborating closely with colleagues in the BDU, the greater GSB and UCT communities
    • Preparation, monitoring and reporting on alumni engagement for accreditation purposes
    • Experience in synthesizing data
    • Demonstrate a proactive approach to currency of professional knowledge through engagement with external networks, initiatives and professional bodies
    • Human resource management and development
    • For this position, we seek a highly competent and experienced person. The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator, service-orientated and able to work independently to identify opportunities to develop mutually-beneficial relationships with all stakeholders / communities.

    The following will be advantageous:

    • Worked in the higher education environment, particularly related to alumni relations
    • Working knowledge of the communications environment

    EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • A relevant post graduate tertiary qualification, preferably in Business Management or a related field
    • At least 5 years’ experience working in the Higher Education sector while working closely with post graduate and Masters students.
    • Understanding current technologies and the use of applications for organizational processes
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing staff and budgetary management
    • Excellent written / verbal communication skills including production of complex reports for different audiences
    • Experience of collaborating with a range of stakeholders and building relationships
    • Independent judgement and individual discretion used when planning and executing alumni events
    • Strategic thinking and planning skills
    • Highly effective planning, scheduling, time management and follow-through skills required in order to coordinate and implement special programs and events, while providing service to both employers and students’ in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Must be willing to travel locally, nationally and internationally (as appropriate) and work evenings and weekends as required

    The annual remuneration package for 2017, including benefits, will fall between R417 668 to R491 373. 00 as per 2017 salary terms.

    Programme Coordinator

    Job Description

    The UCT Graduate School of Business invites applications from dynamic and energetic individuals with a sound understanding of adult learning principles and a strong client focus. You will be responsible for managing, coordinating and delivering efficient, professional and cost-effective contact sessions; also managing and controlling the inter-modular periods of the various programmes on offer and supporting the Course Convenors.

    Reporting to the Programme Manager, the incumbent will be required to:

    • ensure that efficient operational, cost-effective and service-orientated processes are implemented per programme and manage the same
    • initiate, organize and coordinate all programme meetings and activities; coordinate resources required including venues, accommodation, catering, equipment and entertainment bookings etc.
    • manage programme budgets to ensure cost-efficiency and appropriate financial performance within set parameters
    • build and manage productive relationships with programme team members, associated GSB service providers, internal and external client/s, as well as the individual students
    • support students during contact sessions and inter-modular periods and communicate with clients where relevant regarding student progress
    • work effectively and professionally in a highly-charged, fast-paced team environment and
    • work certain weekends (student contact periods) and after hours where necessary, as well as attend student functions where applicable.

    The successful candidate must have:

    • a relevant tertiary qualification
    • five years’ working experience with at least three years relevant programme/hospitality/project coordination-related experience
    • excellent organisational skills, planning and multi-tasking skills; the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to work effectively in a team
    • a high level of diplomacy, emotional intelligence and personal integrity
    • an ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise judgement and establish priorities and display personal initiative
    • Excellent communication skills (written, presentation and verbal) and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff and students, as well as with external stakeholders and senior managers in the public and private sectors;
    • A broad understanding of the Higher Education environment and
    • A high level of proficiency in MS Office applications.

    The annual remuneration package for 2017, including benefits, will fall between R330 530 and R388 859.

    Careers Service Manager

    Job Description

    Situated within our Business Development Unit (BDU), and reporting to the Head: Alumni Relations and Careers Services, we seek to appoint a suitably qualified person to manager Careers Service.

    In supporting the GSB vision and mission this position will ensure a careers service offering commensurate with the top business schools with whom we compete for applicants and ensure that the GSB is top of mind to employers when seeking staff.

    The Careers Service Manager will be responsible for:

    •  Serving as an ambassador of the GSB to the student, alumni, employer and other communities
    •  Developing a sustainable pipeline of partnerships with stakeholders
    •  Overseeing the planning and delivery of careers education, careers advice and information services
    •  Creating resources for GSB students and alumni, to further their career advancement
    •  Creating digital communication output for social media, and the careers portal
    •  Collaborating closely with colleagues in the BDU, the greater GSB and UCT communities
    •  Preparing, monitoring and reporting on employment statistics, and satisfaction surveys and accreditation reports
    •  Demonstrate a proactive approach to currency of professional knowledge through engagement with external networks, initiatives and professional bodies
    •  Human resource management and development

    For this position, we seek a highly competent and experienced person. The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator, service-orientated and able to work independently to identify opportunities to develop mutually-beneficial relationships with all stakeholders / communities.

    EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    •  At least 3-5 years’ experience in Career Guidance and Counselling in the Higher Education sector / Talent Management.
    •  A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing staff and budgetary management.
    •  Ability to develop learning materials & course modules
    •  Understanding of current technologies and the use of applications for organizational processes
    •  Excellent written / verbal communication skills including production of complex reports and digital offerings for different audiences
    •  Knowledge of global graduate labour market trends, employer expectations and graduate opportunity structures
    •  Experience of collaborating with a range of stakeholders and building relationships
    •  Independent judgement and individual discretion involved with developing career programming and resources, structuring schedule and determining follow-up.
    •  Strategic thinking and planning skills,
