The Executive : Head Digital Innovation and regional Strategy is expected to act as an advisor to the VP: Digital Services, Data Analytics, Business Development and senior management and assist in facilitating effective decision making as well as will be responsible to coordinate the viability and testing of digital innovation initiatives. This may involve leading or co-leading certain initiatives with the focus to make MTN Digital Services (including Mobile Financial Services) and Data Analytics a more efficient and effective business. Core to this role is investigating new technologies, meeting vendors to ascertain usefulness of new products and exploring innovative and cost effective solutions to new products or identified inefficiencies in the digital services, mobile financial services and data analytics divisions. This person will work with the ecosystem GM to review start up business models and outline technical and strategic requirements for new services and products. Furthermore this person will work with the Regional VP’s to determine a regional Digital strategy dfor each of the opcos and assist with in country delivery of that strategy. This will be done in conjunction with the chief digital officer and the head of MFS.

The role will be accountable to achieve the following to objectives:

• Provide instructional leadership aligned with digital services, mobile financial services and data analytics strategy
• Act as representative of VP: Digital Services, Data Analytics, Business Development when appropriate
• Develop and implement against set strategic plans including setting goals and KPIs
• Provides overall direction to the business through planning, policy-making and coordinating a variety of activities which may not fall within one functional area
• Establish and review administrative policies
• Collaborative engagement with various departments to implement said policies
• Lead specific innovation initiatives within MTN
• Work will relevant OPCO’s to test and trial new technologies/ideas on an agile basis
• Work with the regional VP’s and Opco CEO’s to design and implement a digital strategy for content and mobile money
• Develop and manage an integrated plan and process for the functioning of the digitl innovation strategy
• Lead regular and timeous engagements and information to all stakeholders
• Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Scope, plan and execute multiple, often quick turnaround projects with minimal outside assistance

Role requirements

You must have:

• A Bachelor's Degree in commerce/finance/technology
• Post graduate/professional qualification such as a Masters degree or MBA

You must have the following experience:

• Minimum 8-10 years in a senior role in telecommunications, financial services or management consulting
• Experience in strategic planning
• Experience in managing and executing large projects
• Experience in corporate start-up activities
• Experience in global/emerging markets
• Work across diverse cultures and geographies
• Worked in the innovation space in financial services, e-commerce or telecommunications
• Experience in investing in Start ups in the digital space.

The Senior Manager Group Information Security Operations Centre is responsible for the entire process of developing and maintaining the capability to manage Security Operations and incidents within MTN so that exposure can be contained and recovery achieved within a specified time objective. The focus of this role is to embed security measures across the OpCo’s, to drive a culture of proactive threat identification and incident management.

The role will be accountable to achieve the following to objectives:

• Management of the SOC will be a 24/7 operational. The Senior Manager should ensure operational support at all times;
• Works with MTN business risk management, IT and other risk management/assurance functions to identify security requirements, security architecture and security GRC for both MTN Group and the OpCos, using various methods such as risk and business impact assessments;
• Reports to management concerning residual risk, vulnerabilities and other security exposures, including misuse of information assets and noncompliance;
• Researches and assesses new threats, security alerts and indicators of compromise and recommends appropriate actions;
• Ensure and develop holistic Security Operations Centre KPI’s and manage achievement thereof;
• Lead the conduct of security control and vulnerability assessments to identify weaknesses and assess the effectiveness of existing controls, and recommends remedial action;
• Directly responsible for facilitating information security risk assessments in OPCOs to ensure threats are managed;
• Identify emerging information security trends in the telecom industry and engage the MTN stakeholders to ensure that threats are managed;
• Prepares system security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends;
• Upgrades security systems by monitoring security environment; identifying security gaps; evaluating and implementing enhancements;

• Establish and drive security operations specific critical incident training programmes across all OPCOs;
• Liaise with and manage external entities (sector, law enforcement) to share intelligence and escalate incidents.

Role requirements

You must have:

• A Bachelor's Degree in engineering/information technology
• Post graduate/professional qualification such as a Masters degree

You must have the following experience:

• 10-12 years of relevant work experience in Information Technology (specifically security)
• 2-3 years of experience at the Senior Management level in the telecom industry
• 2-3 years working experience in managing information security in a large organisation
• Experience in managing and implementing large scale information security projects
• Experience working in Africa and Middle East and have a grasp of political, social, infrastructure and integrity challenges
• Advanced working understanding of the information technology environment of a telecom company
• Developing and managing a Security Operations Centre
