Job description

Purpose

• Oversee and manage day-to-day legal operations and provide legal strategy, assistance and support to all businesses across Cipla SA & Sub Saharan Africa on any legal issues by leveraging the centres of excellence within the function to ensure and certify legal compliance and smooth functioning of Cipla's business operations.
• Develop and implement the vision and strategy for the Legal Department along with Global General Counsel to ensure adequate legal support is provided to the business and key stakeholders in SA & SSA in a timely manner
• Devise and implement strong legal policies, procedures and systems across Cipla SA & SSA region in order to provide legal services in an efficient manner and ensure organization wide awareness on legal implications of business decisions
• Advise the company on litigation risks of possible business decisions to prevent risks associated with the business practices and thereby resolving and assisting in addressing critical matters
• Ensure compliance and Risk Management by putting practices in place to comply to the norms and prevent any damages
• Establish a robust contract management system in order to ensure standardization of contracts and error-free contracts
• Collaborate with management and key stakeholders to understand strategic initiatives and business needs within the departments and provide the necessary legal and business counsel
