    Intermediate Tour Consultant

    Job description

    Brief Overview of the Position

    Working as part of a local team servicing our Travel Counsellors. As a key role within the in-house Destination Management Company’, you will be expected to offer excellent service to Travel Counsellors worldwide, ensuring that they remain competitive in their marketplace and provide them with expert advice and support.

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assess Travel Counsellors needs in terms of special interests, special needs, and affordability/budget
    • Quoting of all services requested by a Travel Counsellors within the required turnaround time
    • Reservations of all services requested by Travel Counsellors
    • Respond to written requests and provide written confirmations
    • Loading reservations on Tourplan
    • Ensure confirmation of services with suppliers
    • Stay in constant communication with Travel Counsellors with regards to status of reservations, payment requirements, deadlines, and conditions of reservations
    • Manage Travel Counsellors complaints and emergencies
    • Maintain contact with Travel Counsellors
    • You will be expected to ‘own’ a booking from the time of quote all the way through the customer’s return, ensuring high quality of service throughout.

    • Good Tourism industry knowledge
    • Excellent South African and Regional geographic knowledge
    • Strong logistical knowledge

    Skills

    Essential:

    • Knowledge of customers’ needs and products

    • Strong logistical knowledge
    • Excellent communication skills with ability to work by email and over the phone.
    • Relationship building.
    • Problem Solving.
    • Ability to work well under pressure, handling several quotes and bookings at the same time.
    • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail

    Desirable attributes and qualifications

    Required :

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • Travel & Tourism qualification would be preferable
    • 3 years FIT Tour Consulting experience within the tour operating industry
    • Tourplan knowledge and execution would be preferable
