VMMC Linkage Co-ordinator at BroadReach

Job Purpose

Manage a team of VMMC Linkage Officers. Travel to facilities to provide leadership in the form of mentorship, training and implementation in order to assist the attainment of project targets. Position based in Gert Sibande for 8 months.

Key measurable outputs of the position include:

• VMMC health talks, counselling, linkage and referrals

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Nursing degree or diploma, current registration with SANC and NIMART certification is essential. Post qualification HIV/AIDS/TB/STI preferable.
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience and knowledge of public health facilities and HIV programmes
• Previous training in VMMC would serve as an advantage
• Technical Knowledge and Skills Required
• General (pre-requisite)
• Experience and knowledge of public health facilities and HIV programmes
• Basic knowledge of VMMC, HIV/AIDS and TB
• Committed and motivated to preventing HIV and supporting people living with HIV
• Experience in providing health education talks and counselling
• Non- judgmental, trustworthy and empathic
• Involvement in some aspect of community work will be an added advantage
• Strong understanding of patient confidentiality laws
• Computer literacy preferred
• Project management skills
• Organisation (orientation/probation)
• Understanding of HIV and TB clinical and treatment guidelines and protocols for adults and children
• Understanding the 90-90-90 HIV and TB strategies for adults and children
• In detail understanding of VMMC
• Knowledge and use of BR tools
• Understanding the relationship between the VMMC partner and BroadReach

Role (foundational knowledge)

• Understanding of healthcare systems in resource-limited settings
• Understanding the local political landscape involved in Facility, Sub-district and District level
• Knowledge of diagnoses, clinical management, and on-going antiretroviral use in HIV and TB exposed and infected children and adults
• Knowledge of principals and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
• Knowledge of different counselling and training models for vulnerable diseases
• Changing knowledge requirements
