    Operations Support Specialist / Manager (Project Analyst)

    The individual is required to manage, conduct and support all the operational activities of the business by providing support to the business unit leader with regard to analysis and reporting of business metrics and lead the processes of project management reporting on all the projects conducted in the business.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. A Master’s Degree in related fields would be beneficial.

    Experience:

    At least 4 years’ experience in analysis & business solution design, project management and/or operations management. Experience preferably in operations of a services orientated company or project delivery environment Process improvement (Optimisation), project management and consulting would be beneficial. Experience in the construction industry and management experience will be beneficial.

    • Organisation change management
    • Operations research / optimisation.
    • Resource planning, work scheduling & prioritisation over multiple projects
    • Analytical & problem-solving – root cause analysis & systems thinking
    • Business process improvement – standardising, simplifying and improving processes/work flow & tools where required
    • Data analysis and collection. Including data manipulation, building of models and analysis of trends
    • Understand databases, SQL and information manipulation for reporting
    • High level of proficiency in Excel, pivot tables and data formulas in Excel,
    • Access, MS Project of other database and project management tools
    • Financial analysis – individual project and overall business unit performance
    • Project and programme management knowledge
    • Ability to work with multiple levels of skill / management within the organisation
    • Able forecasting tools / techniques to determine potential issues
    • Consultancy skills - Team player, client orientated and good listener.
    • Presentation skills (Skilled in analytical and presentation tools: e.g. MS Power Point)
    • Report writing skills in MS Word

    Job Purpose / Functions:

    The person is required to:

    • Be pro-active, disciplined and creative in extracting business and project data from project management and business systems and processes, interpreting such information and providing management information in innovative ways to enable the business unit’s management to be standardised, automated and streamlined to create greater efficiencies.
    • Have in-depth knowledge of BST and internal Aurecon project management software as well as be able to investigate and adopt the use of new software and methods to enhance current practises.
    • Conduct regular training in the implementation and use of systems and software in use as well as learn new software with the purpose of training others on a regular basis – both in class room and individual support modes.
    • Be an enthusiastic self-motivated individual who is forward thinking, innovative and able to collaborate and communicate well with all levels of the organization.
    • The candidate will be required to work within a client delivery-orientated business unit as an operation specialist, supporting the unit manager and Industry director(s) through measuring and analysing the KPI’s of the unit’s based on various dimensions e.g. client, project director and size. Operations (e.g. project profitability, project performance, work flow) and identifying and solving problems & inefficiencies. He/she will also be required to understand the corporate systems and to improve the uptake and usage in the unit. It is also expected that the candidate proposes solutions for improvements and facilitate the implementation of such solutions. Addition to the role, the candidate will also determine impact of potential changes or new projects that might be in the pipeline.
    • The candidate will assist with project management and control on projects and will to identify problems and solutions at individual project level where required. The candidate will be required to be proficient in writing reports and making presentations on the work that they do. The candidate will also be required to provide information relevant to decision-making to the unit manager (e.g. operation management information, including overview of all the projects within the unit, the progress of each project, flagging of potential resource constraints / resource under-utilisation within the unit, profitability.) to advise him/her regarding performance improvements of the unit as a busine
