    Commercial Underwriter

    Job description

    Experience and Skills Required

    • Higher certificate in Insurance
    • Grade 12 (Matric certificate) qualification
    • RE certificate
    • 8 years’ experience working in a commercial underwriting department assessing risks, determining pricing and terms across all classes of insurance (Property, Casualty and Motor)
    • Thorough Commercial technical, product and wording knowledge
    • Knowledge of personal lines product wording and underwriting
    • Basic working knowledge of Re-Insurance

    Responsibilities

    • Providing insurance and technical underwriting expertise and advice for all Classes of Insurance.
    • Assist the Relationship Managers in explaining complex underwriting decisions to intermediaries.
    • Balance growth and profitability when making decisions by considering the supporting business and regional strategy
    • Analyse profitability of multi-claimants or renewal of individual policies & advises corrective actions to Regional Managers and Relationship Managers
