R & D Manager: Process Additives at AECI Limited

Job description

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Research and development applied Chemistry for fertilizer coatings.
• Literature surveys.
• Leading the development of new application processes & products.
• Keeping up with new research, attend conferences and relevant events.
• Maintaining accurate records.
• Preparing customer appropriate and internal technical reports and recommendations based on research outcomes.
• Assisting with the scale up of process and technology and hand over to technical & operations teams.
• Working with other departments and specialists to design and implement new processes.
• Raw materials – evaluation and application of existing and new.
• Fertiliser coatings and process additives.
• Responsible for plant process and development, QC and technical evaluation.
• Customer and sales support on technology/product application.
• Work with production and sales teams on process improvement, troubleshooting of current technology and product development.
• Interrogations of processes to establish if design intent is achieved.
• Compliance with all legislative regulations.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Matric.
• Master’s degree in Chemistry (preferably organic chemistry).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in applied or process chemistry.
• Research and development experience.
• Experience in management or leadership role.
• Must be prepared to travel internationally.
