    Material Planning and Logistics Manager

    Job description

    ROLE SUMMARY:

    Ford is looking for a Material Planning & Logistic (MPL) Manager who will report directly to the Manufacturing Controller. The primary accountabilities of this role are to lead and support the team to deliver financial data, special projects and operational support for freight, duty related taxes and inventory control

    Role Responsibilities:

    • Report out on profit reporting for manufacturing variances - Issue-to-issue, quarter-over-quarter, budget and year-over-year performance to support analytical requirements and senior management reviews.
    • Continuously explore opportunities to improve processes, support and guide team to ensure process improvements and productivity is achieved (fitness)
    • Support weekly & monthly review of cost results and metrics with all area managers supported with cost analysis that will support continues improvements
    • Achieves business objectives and targets.
    • Guide and assist the various skill team leads with operational tasks and activities
    • Identify and coordinate issue resolution, especially cross-functional and cross-project dependencies
    • Leverage the capabilities of global skill teams to provide efficient support to Ford South Africa and other MEA locations. (e.g. inventory SME and BPR decks)
    • Provide reports / metrics on a regular basis, and as directed or requested to the senior management of the status of other focused activities
    • Stakeholder relationship management across various actvities
    • Perform Controls Self-Assessment Tool Modular Control review program (MCRP in Ford) to mitigate risks, raise Operations Identified Comments (OICs), develop, implement and sustain corrective actions
    • Stakeholder relationship management across various projects
    • Support weekly & monthly review of cost results and metrics with all area managers supported with cost analysis that will support continues improvements.

    PERFORMANCE MEASURES/ SUCCESS CRITERIA:

    • Measure annual Profit & Revenue targets as per the Budget performance metrics set
    • Accurate and timely reporting to Management and Corporate on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
    • Successfully manage ad hoc tasks and meet tight deadlines (ad-hoc reporting included)
    • Prepare High Quality presentations and explanations adhering to Ford standards

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES (KSA):

    • Good communication and listening skills
    • Self-starter and team player
    • Good command of key IT tools, particularly MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Should have good analytical, numerical and research skills.
    • Attention to detail
    • Be able to present to senior management
    • Be able to work under pressure
    • Ensure deadlines are met
    • Proficient in English language
    • Capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgment

    QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:

    • B.Com Accounting or equivalent financial degree.
    • Minimum 5-6 years' experience in a Manufacturing Finance.
    • Automotive experience would be beneficial.
    • The roles requires a solid demonstration of understanding knowledge on relevant aspects of financial analysis and applying them into practice.
