    Network Manager

    Job description

Overview of the role and its mandate:

LifeCo UnLtd has taken the initiative to create the South African Impact Entrepreneurs Network (SAIEN) so that the entrepreneurs that it supports and other impact enterprises could have a voice that is exclusively the voice of impact entrepreneurs – uncluttered by all other stakeholders. SAIEN will collaborate with other stakeholders, but the voice of entrepreneurs will be the driving force. After 3 years of establishing SAIEN, LifeCo UnLtd will step back and join as a member. SAIEN will then belong to the sector as an independent enterprise itself, driven by a impact entrepreneur. It does not intend to have thousands of members. It will be a core of 30 committed entrepreneurs who have proven themselves and their impact. It will grow organically from there, but will remain a niche of practicing impact entrepreneurs. LifeCo UnLtd is therefore looking to recruit a Network & Mobilisation Manager for the South African Impact Entrepreneurs Network. SAIEN’s Network & Mobilisation Manager’s primary role is to build a cohesive, resilient network that supports the network’s purpose and mandate. SAIEN’s Network & Mobilisation Manager’s core responsibility will be to:

    1. Establish and build the network (constitution, membership agreements, etc.)

    2. Recruit members

    3. Plan and manage convening, advocacy, conferencing and workshop activities

    4. Facilitate and coordinate connection and collaboration between members and other stakeholders

    5. Oversee and drive member-driven research activities

    Job Description & Key Responsibilities

Working across a geographical region (in this instance South Africa), SAIEN’s Network & Mobilisation Manager will be required to:

    • undertake the strategic and operational development of SAIEN, in consultation with relevant stakeholders

    • undertake the development of governance arrangements within SAIEN

    • manage commissioning and subcontracting as appropriate

    • income generate/fundraise to build the network sustainability

    • manage financial reporting and budgets including presentation to strategic groups

    • build and sustain membership

    • maintain a high level of member satisfaction with incoming and outgoing communications

    • arrange meetings, conferences and events as required by the network as well as the sector

    • respond to policy initiatives and consultations on behalf of the network

    • raise the profile of the impact enterprise sector

    • prepare newsletters, press communication and social media activity

    • oversee development of, and update website, including an on-line impact enterprise database

    • represent the network at and within relevant fora

    • liaise with appropriate public, voluntary and private sector partners and statutory agencies to promote impact enterprise, within the wider economy

    • implement the membership development plan, manage resources and set workflow priorities

    • hold regular progress meetings and circulate progress reports on activity against targets e.g. growth projections, campaign effectiveness, response timescales for membership inquiries, etc.

    • anticipate problems and adjust the allocation of resources accordingly

    • contribute to the membership development plan and review:

      • member recruitment and retention campaigns

      • interpret membership recruitment and retention statistics and review member research and make recommendations
