    Branch Manager

    Job description

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION

    •  Matric
    •  FETC qualification (FAIS)
    •  Passed RE exams
    •  Higher certificate in insurance or equivalent
    •  (Advantage and requirement for a large branch)
    •  Diploma in business management/ risk management

    EXPERIENCE

     Small Branch

    •  5 years’ insurance experience of which 3 years should have been with an insurance brokerage
    •  2 years in a supervisory / management capacity
    •  2 years’ commercial experience


     Medium Branch

    •  7 years’ insurance experience of which 5 years should have been with an insurance brokerage
    •  3 years in a supervisory /management capacity
    •  3 years commercial broking experience


     Large Branch

    •  7 years’ insurance brokerage experience
    •  3 years in a supervisory /management capacity or Professionally Qualified Insurance practitioner to NQF Level 7.
    •  3 years’ medium to large commercial account experience

    •  Develop branch operational plans based on the Regional Strategy.
    •  Develop and obtain approval for branch business plans aligned to Indwe’s strategic objectives.
    •  Implement business plan
    •  Monitor and Report on branch performance as per set standard
    •  Increase Indwe’s market share
    •  Analyse the local economic environment that the branch operates within.
    •  Identify new business opportunities; develop and implement a marketing and sales plans
    •  Create and develop a sustainable short, medium and long term business development pipeline with qualified leads
    •  Create and implement an existing client growth plan for personal and commercial lines
    •  Ensure that the branch exceeds the growth targets according to the branch’s business plan.
    •  Retain and grow current client base
    •  Develop, refine, implement and monitor branch processes and systems to optimize service provision to clients.
    •  Create mechanism to recognize and take advantage of up selling and cross selling opportunities; and manage the process.
    •  Set and manage process and standards of communication
    •  Ensure Multi-tier and personal relationships with the top 20 clients of the branch.
    •  Stakeholder Relationship management
    • (Suppliers, clients, insurers, local industry players, business professional, professional bodies, etc)
    •  Develop and implement a stakeholder interaction strategy aligned to the marketing plans
    •  Identify and utilize specialist skills within Indwe - build strong relationships with the branch network
    •  Build strong relationships with the insurers (service providers)
    •  Identify possible business partners
    •  Networking - Determine target market and create appropriate interventions in line with marketing plans.
    •  Human Capital growth and development
    •  Ensure the recruitment and retention of key personnel in line with the organisations strategy.
    •  Ensure the implementation of the Performance Management System to build a high performance ecology within the organisation
    •  Provide guidance / mentoring/coaching/training and development of employees
    •  Ensure all personnel servicing clients or involved in new business have suitable levels of insurance knowledge and expertise in either personal lines or commercial lines or in the case of small branches – both lines of insurance.
    •  All servicing personnel to be tested every year with regards to levels of knowledge relating to the fundamentals of insurance
    •  Effective management of Employee Relations.
    •  General people management administration – e.g. leave etc
    •  Create positive energy to build and maintain staff morale
    •  Transformation
    •  Ensure the attraction and Selection of top caliber EE candidates in line with Regional targets
    •  Ensure the branch has a business strategy which will assist in the attainment of our EE targets
    •  Accelerate the development of key EE personnel for succession planning
    •  Contribute towards the achievement of the Regional BBBEE targets (Scorecard)
