    Marketing Manager

    Job Description

    The Financial Planning Institute (FPI), a SAQA-recognised professional body is seeking the services of an experienced, passionate and strategic Marketing Manager. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and working collaboratively with business unit heads and the Communications and PR teams, this is an ideal position for a resourceful, strategic and creative marketer who thrives in a dynamic team environment.
    Essential Functions:

    • Develope, implement and execute strategic marketing plans for all divisions of FPI (or lines of business and brands within an organization) in order to attract potential customers and retain existing ones;
    • Managing the daily operations and workflow of the Marketing and Communications department of FPI including the planning, scheduling, and tracking of marketing activities, and staff management;
    • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all functional marketing operations;
    • Develop and deliver an integrated marketing strategy and implementation of resulting plans across all channels in support of FPI’s overall strategy, providing strong leadership to the team and working closely with key internal stakeholders and external partners;
    • Work directly with internal business units to develop annual lead generation, marketing automation campaigns and customer retention initiatives for FPI in support of key business priorities;
    • Steering campaigns, PR and events with an emphasis on lead generation, leveraging a mix of digital and traditional marketing strategies;
    • Develop and implement the brand positioning strategy and drive consistency in all brand led marketing activities. Identify opportunities to expand FPI’s market presence and increase brand recognition;
    • Develop and control the FPI marketing budget ensuring resources are used efficiently to help achieve business priorities;
    • Adopt best practice data-driven marketing to drive new business opportunities as well as monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of strategies, campaigns and events;
    • Continuous analysis of the competitive environment and consumer trends and keeping abreast of competitive developments, assessing current marketing strategies and identifying opportunities to improve on them;
    • Measure the effectiveness of marketing by providing high levels of sophisticated reporting to show lead conversion, most effective campaigns, and areas for improvement and to draw conclusions and give recommendations on appropriate strategy based on the data collected;
    • Identify and exploit cross-marketing and sales opportunities;
    • Work collaboratively to develop content strategy that is consistent with FPI’s marketing strategy and plans;
    • Create overall product/service marketing messaging for print email and other digital platforms;
    • Manage the visual representation of FPI’s content through images, videos, infographics, brochures and other marketing creatives;
    • Responsible for the visual identity of the brand across all channels;
    • Ensure that content is presented in an appealing and clear way to encourage audience engagement.

    Required education, knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes:

    Tertiary marketing qualification;

    • Minimum of 10 years’ senior marketing management experience, including marketing intelligence research, strategy development and implementation, prospect profiling, lead development and brand positioning;
    • Proven track record of the successful execution of marketing strategies to drive customer acquisition and retention, strong consumer-oriented approach, marketing background and an entrepreneurial mind set;
    • Proven ability of delivering integrated marketing automation, CRM and lead generation campaigns;
    • Proven ability in creating cross channel strategies, conducting data gathering, project management, campaign management, programme evaluation;
    • Creative thinker that can translate the FPI strategic plan visually and frame content within compelling storylines;
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills including professional writing and presentation skills for a variety of audiences;
    • Excellent customer service skills including active listening, a service-oriented approach to interaction and follow-through action;
    • Experience in managing staff and coordinating complex marketing plans across multiple departments and channels;
    • Strong aptitude for marketing automation and marketing plan execution via the latest marketing technologies;
    • Vast understanding of SEO and its impact on online strategy;
    • Possess an in depth understanding of UI/UX;
    • Must have experience in strategic social media marketing
    • Demonstrated skills in project management to plan, develop timelines, implement, report progress and meet deadlines under pressure;
    • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills to achieve results;
    • Hands-on, can-do attitude – must be prepared ‘to do as well as manage’;
    • Proactive and motivated self-starter who can work and achieve tangible business results with minimal direction and who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments while maintaining a high level of professionalism;
    • Must be able to travel nationally, as required;

    What will be advantageous:

    • Qualification in Business Administration or Communications;
    • Graphic design experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, HTML and CMSs;
    • Membership of FPI;
    • Experience in financial services industry.

    Reporting relationships:

    • Shall report to the Chief Operating Officer;
    • Shall work closely with, and report to, internal business unit heads;
    • Minimum of 3 direct reports.

    Remuneration:

    • Competitive remuneration depending on qualification, experience and skills. Package is inclusive of provident fund, medical aid and other risk benefits.
