Key Responsibility Areas:

• Provides support to strategic planning at both a City-Wide Level or within specific geographic locations.
• Prepares base plans and conceptual plans for land use plans, development plans and development applications.

• Undertakes statutory planning and development application assessments.

• Prepares base plans and conceptual plans for land use plans, development plans and development applications.
• Assists with the preparation, approval, monitoring and review of policy, land use plans, development plans and development applications.
• Undertakes the tasks related to more complex statutory planning and development application assessments.
• Undertakes the evaluation of non-statutory development proposals.
• Assists with community and advocacy planning.
• Manages projects of limited scale and complexity.
• Undertakes research and policy development.
• Provides information required to process development applications and initiate development plans.
• Supports special programmes and projects.
• Provides technical information, advice and guidelines to all stakeholders, including other spheres of government and civil society.
• Oversees, mentors, manages and directs the activities of students and candidate technical planners within the department.
• Gathers and collates statistical information on all plans and planning processes.

Essential Requirements:

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent in Town and Regional Planning
• Eligible to register as a Technical Planner with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN).
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 3 Years relevant experience.
• Computer Literacy

Essential Requirements: Senior Technical Planner - T12

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent in Town and Regional Planning
• Registered as a Technical Planner with the South African Council of Planners. (SACPLAN).
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 4 Years relevant experience.
• Computer Literacy.
