Java Web Developer at Singular Systems (Pty) Ltd

Job description

Singular Systems is looking for a Java Web Developer with strong knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript to start work in May. The successful candidate will have proven experience in both client side and server side web application frameworks and a good understanding of web standards, protocols, and website accessibility.

• Create website layout/user interface using standard HTML/CSS practices
• Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
• Build and deliver secure and performant websites, ensuring cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility
• Craft high quality, maintainable and efficient code that meet requirements
• Ensure code changes are both unit and integration tested as necessary and contribute to the development of effective test toolsProvide knowledge and technical support for internal and external clients where required
• Java 8, Java Enterprise (EJB, JTA, JAAS) and Application servers (JBoss/WildFly/Oracle)
• Demonstrated experience with web applications and languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Functional knowledge and hands on design experience with web services (REST/SOAP)
• Strong understanding of server side web application frameworks such as JSF/PrimeFaces and client side JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS and JQuery
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into functional and intuitive user interfaces for desktop and mobile devices
• Solid understanding of responsive design principles and techniques. Experience with grid CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap is desirable.
• Working knowledge of cross-browser compatibility, accessibility, and general web standards
• Strong grasp of security principles and how they apply to web applications.
• Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks such as CDI and/or Spring
• Familiarity with build tools such as Maven/Jenkins and distributed version control systems such as Git
• Understanding of web design for performance and scalability, including design for efficient set based database access, optimizing network chatter, caching session and standing data, predictive fetching etc.
• Experience interfacing with a complex PAS services API and the discipline of carrying out enhancements to the API in a forwards and backwards compatible manner
