Job Description

The role required is for a senior BI consultant that can architect solutions ranging from traditional data warehousing to Big Data Analytics and Data Science services. The person should have extensive experience with a strong analytical mind-set as well as a passion for the business value this kind of technology offer our clients.

DUTIES:

Delivery engagement and control:

•  Work with client on architecting and optimising a data or analytical solution. Understand their business and come up with architectural and application recommendations.
•  Evaluate database models & interfaces to determine impact of data changes in applications
•  Development of data models in support of business requirements
•  Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex customer technical problems
•  Accept overall responsibility for the technical design of the data warehouse / BI Solution, including the technical infrastructure, performance considerations, storage repository selections and organisation, data schemas and security constraints required to support the data warehouse system.
•  Be involved in taking key technology decisions at various stages in the project.
•  Work in close collaboration with Developers to ensure that the different parts of a solution are integrated and appropriate technology choices are made.
•  Work with Business Analysts and clients to ensure that the system evolves to meet emerging business requirements.
•  Work with Project Manager to assist with planning activities and that tasks are allocated in a way that reduces dependencies between different streams of work.
•  Provide the overall cohesiveness to ensure that all the components of the envisaged solution will fit together.
•  Use your communication skills to ensure that everyone in the team understands where the solution is heading and the roadmap to get there.

Personal development

 Maintain technical competence by keeping abreast of Hadoop technology and technological developments, practices, procedures, etc.

Sales Support and Pre-sales consulting:

•  Provide technical, business and delivery consultative leadership for a specific competency area at the pre- and/or post sales level. Assist with the scoping of proposals that address current and evolving client requirements.
•  Maintain a high degree of technical readiness, in order to be successfully prepared to support the delivery of client requirements using the latest technologies.
•  Coordinate and conduct the delivery of high-level complex solutions and maintain overall responsibility for the development of best-practice standards, policies and procedures.

Required Skills:

•  5-10 years Business Intelligence Architecture experience in large to Enterprise scale solutions
•  System design and architecture experience is essential.
•  Skill in representing different architectural views of a system using diagramming and other tools.
•  Strong analysis, design and implementation skills.
•  Experience in data warehouse / BI solution performance analysis, tuning and administration is required.
•  Expert-level technical knowledge in one or more areas of technology.
•  Excellent communication and client interfacing skills.
•  Strong analytical skills and the ability to conceptualise solutions.
•  The ability and confidence to stand out as a technology leader in the organisation.
•  The ability to work independently as well as in conjunction with a team.

Recommended Skills

•  1-3 years of relevant experience in Big Data technologies and techniques.
•  1-3 years of relevant experience in Cloud analytics solutions
•  1-3 years of relevant experience in Advanced Analytics or Data Science

Required Qualifications / Training:

•  Relevant data warehouse architecture and infrastructure training is essential.
•  B.Sc. or related degree is advantageous.
