    Senior Financial Manager

    Job description

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    To oversee financial reporting within the Banking Group.

    DESCRIPTION OF TASKS

    • Oversee the reconciliation process to ensure that recons are accurate, complete and delivered according to stipulated timelines.
    • Prepare income statements and balance sheets both at an entity and divisional level, for management reporting purposes (EXCO), regulatory (SARB) and statutory reporting (financial statements in terms of IFRS).
    • Analyse actual to budget variances and provide Deputy CFO with a monthly commentary report per division.
    • Prepare dashboards for Executive Committee (EXCO) reporting.
    • Review reporting relating to the securitisation vehicle.
    • Review net open position of foreign operations.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal control framework.
    • Assist auditors with information requests and queries during the year-end audit.
    • Review year end ‘Audit Packs’ for reporting to the Group and auditors.
    • Prepare annual financial statements for allocated entities and review financial statements from AFM’s.
    • Drive integration between line of business system and GL. Streamline processes where appropriate.
    • Involvement with budgeting and forecasting process – provide necessary inputs and review assumptions applied.
    • Liaise with business unit heads on operational matters.
    • Attend to ad hoc queries/projects queries as assigned by the Deputy CFO.
    • Manage and develop employees – improve efficiencies and increase competencies.
    • Ensure compliance with Tax Law and regulations:
      • Keep abreast of changes within the tax environment and communicate the impact to the company.
      • Review company tax packs and income tax returns for submission to the Group Tax Manager and Deputy CFO.

    SKILLS/PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

    • CA(SA) with banking experience;
    • Minimum five years working experience;
    • Technically strong – IFRS and Tax;
    • Sound understanding of IT systems;
    • Attention to detail is essential;
    • Must be able to work on Caseware;
    • Must be able to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
    • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team;
    • Strong interpersonal skills;
    • People management would be beneficial;
    • Good problem-solving ability; and
    • Good report writing skills.

    REMUNERATION

    Total Cost to Company, market related depending on qualification and experience.
