    Technical Sales Engineer

    Job description

    Qualifications

    • Matric and B Tech Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering will be considered.
    • Relevant Electrical Trade test certificate, i.e. Electrical/Mechatronics, Millwright.

    Requirements

    • Excellent communication skills (fluent in English). A second / third language would be advantageous.
    • Good people and sales skills, as well as telesales skills.
    • Professional, presentable and efficient at all times.
    • Have a systematic and effective method for fault finding and an attitude to complete the task, even if it falls outside the boundaries of Festo’s scope of supply.
    • Be prepared to offer a superior level of service and customer support in order to win sales and market share from the opposition.

    Experience

    • 3-5 Years work experience in a technical field involving pneumatic industrial automation products.
    • Sales experience with industrial products or in an industrial environment.
    • Experience with a type of computer based CRM will be an advantage.
    • Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook & Internet Explorer.

    Summary of job contents

     At all times be prepared to enhance and promote the image of Festo and the branch to potential customers, and all other departments within the organisation. Candidates are to provide key technical knowledge and skill for sales, after sales support and business development at strategic and target customers. They must be responsible for living the Festo Values, and take ownership of the Festo Vision and Mission Statement, and be customer service oriented.

    Key accountabilities

    Core Functions:

    • Grow the business according to the required growth targets by actively targeting potential customers in the Gauteng Region with a view to growing sales and market share.
    • Increase sales in Industrial automation products and services supplied by Festo to the customers already in the portfolio.
    • Be responsible for technical consulting on joint calls with Systems Engineers according to requirements.
    • Be responsible for presentations to customers as part of a team selling exercise with Systems Engineers, other Sales Engineers, or individually.
    • Conduct all sales and service quotations, orders and service calls according to prescribed pricing and discount structures.
    • Keep accurate reports of time spent at customers through the Festo CRM with correct information entered.
    • Carry out the relevant research and development for special applications that may be required by customers from time to time.
    • Assist the Branch Manager and Systems Engineers with various customer related functions, including the generation of manuals, technical reports, and other necessary documents.
    • Help with the design and layout of customer control solutions, including the specification of automation products, control panel design, layout and pricing.
    • Attend or run internal training sessions as and when required for sales personnel and customers on the technical aspects of Festo equipment. 

    Didactic Function:

    • Actively promote Didactic courses planned for the Region, using the present customer base in SFA as well as targeting new business for Didactic, with the aim of increasing the number of course participants.

    General Office Responsibilities:

    • The efficient use of Office Communicator, Microsoft Office package, CD writer programmes, Festo CRM and SAP
