    Town Planning Executive

    Job Description

    Purpose of the Job:

    The incumbent will be growing and managing internal town planning division. The incumbent is responsible for preparing, sourcing and finalising all applications (either new or renewals); submitted to Government/ State Owned Institutions and public entities regarding the approval of outdoor advertising signs.

    To liaise with the relevant Council Officials regarding the application process

    Guide the Development Executives in the choice of Outdoor Advertising sites regarding the relevant legislation affecting the approvability of the Outdoor Advertising Application

    Minimum Requirements

    •  Town Planning Degree
    •  At least 5 years’ post qualification experience in a Town Planning role in Outdoor Media Advertising industry. Of which at least 3 years in a supervisory role
    •  Fluency in English - oral and letter/report writing skills
    •  Computer literate - Word, Excel, Power Point
    •  Valid driver’s licence and Passport
    •  Experience in CAD or other drawing program

    Key tasks & responsibilities:

    •  Ensure the correct compilation of documents regarding the application process
    •  Deal with and answer all correspondence directed to the Company regarding Council issues
    •  Prepare motivating memorandums regarding the application process and detailing in these memorandums the various impacting legislative factors
    •  Deal with and prepare all appeal submissions and make the necessary representation to Council Tribunal Committees when required
    •  Correspond with and be knowledgeable of the workings of Council, its by-laws and relevant policies
    •  Correspond with and be knowledgeable of the workings of The South African National Roads Agency, its regulations
    •  Work on by-laws and changes to by-laws that effect our business – identify possible opportunities that would benefit the Company
    •  Consult with legal experts regarding specific legal matters that threaten our business or rights
    •  Monitor the approvability of new sites before the Company incur excessive non-refundable costs for applications, EIA’s and approvals
    •  Manage and prepare all appeal submissions
    •  Renewal of contracts and expired approvals to maintain our holdings
    •  Upgrading of existing signs to improve our holding and revenue stream
    •  Application for building line relaxation
    •  Liaise with Operations regarding specific requirements/requests from councils or private landlords
    •  Conduct pre-build site evaluation inspections
    •  Conduct joint inspections with Operations to ensure that work on site and positioning of signs are according to plan
    •  Compile accurate and complete documentation for record purposes - building files, library sites, etc.
    •  Pegging of sites in accordance to the approvals issued by the relevant government Agency
    •  Resolve queries and complaints received by the Company regarding applications
    •  Preparation of monthly development reports, detailing any legal issues arising and progress made with regard to the pending applications at Council
    •  Present new approved sites and liaise with the sales Team regarding any queries that they may have relating to Development
    •  Attend on invitation, and prepare Manco Board reports
    •  Develop new location opportunities

    •  Must have strong interpersonal skills
    •  Must be self-motivated
    •  Resilient disposition
