Reporting to the IT Manager
Responsible for the smooth running of the in-house IT systems. The IT technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the computer system and networks of an organization. He/she may be also required to install and configure computer systems, detect software and hardware defects, technical and application problems and help solve them either by telephone or in person.
Duties:
- Ensure that the company’s (Support office as well as cinema sites) computer systems run smoothly and that the users get the most advantage from them.
- Tasks may include testing and evaluating systems, conducting routine checks on hardware and other system equipment, doing maintenance of systems and networks and responding quickly to logged calls from the users.
- Monitor the daily operations of the various computer systems in the company.
- May need to assist in projects like investigating the system’s work capacity to the actual daily workload in order to determine if upgrades are needed.
- In addition, may assist the company’s other computer specialists in updating software for the company’s specific needs.
- Delivering support to existing business users and investigating and resolving application errors, data discrepancies and queries.
- Receive and log requests for support from help desk, other service delivery staff and/or users; investigate problems and other requests for support and determines appropriate actions to take.
- Prioritises requests in accordance with agreed criteria and with reference to the standard operating procedures
- Monitor progress of requests for support and ensure users and other interested parties are kept informed.
- Provide correct responses to requests for support by means of for example: making modifications to system parameters, developing work-arounds or sitespecific enhancements, reconfiguring systems
Non-negotiable/essential
- A+ and N+ certification with relevant experience
- Knowledge of hardware, switches and routers, network cabling
- Desktop support for Windows and installing of programs
- Valid driver's license to move between different in-house sites when needed. Own car will be beneficial
- Availability to do standby and assist sites after hours
- Must be a team player
