The Role

Tesla is currently seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer, MES to assist in the development and deployment of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) projects. The incumbent will initially spend 2-4 months working out of our Pilot facility in Fremont, CA and would be permanently located in Buffalo, NY thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Perform high level technical analysis activities, such as requirements gathering and gap analysis of user requirements.
• Define MES solution architectures and develop detailed design specifications.
• Define functional requirements through client interviews, documentation analysis and Work Flow Process Mapping.
• Provide expert knowledge and experience to estimate the technical effort required to implement complex MES solutions.
• Responsible for technical deliverables during the entire lifecycle of MES solution development projects.
• Actively participate on a technical project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained.
• Manage and report on adjustments to scope, schedule, and issues.
• Participate in strategic and tactical planning sessions.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science/Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience required.
• Evidence of exceptional ability.
• 3+ years of experience in MES Domain and Microsoft development environment.
• Experience in developing and maintaining MES systems for high volume manufacturing industries such as semiconductor or Solar PV.
• Extensive development experience in C#, ASP.NET MVC, Web Sockets, SQL Server.
• User interface experience with Angular JS, JQuery.
• Integration experience with manufacturing equipment via SECS/GEM, OPC, or PLC communication.
• Integration experience with ERP/PLM/Warehousing systems.
• Ensure milestones and targets are met by actively managing project through appropriate resource, issue, and risk management.
• Manage and report all aspects of the development, testing, problem solving, and metric analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills required.
• Strong client orientation.
• Must be willing to travel as needed (approximately 15% of the time) to manufacturing sites or equipment vendor site inspections.
• Regular, reliable, predictable performance required.
• Ability to work well with others in collaborative team environment.
