Job description

Electronic locking system company intended to replace all conventional mechanical locks requires a web developer. An important part of the product offering is the web-based management system used to manage locks, keys and sync station.

This company needs a web developer competent to re-architecture the existing system to suit the companys strategic objectives. The current system is implemented using PHP, MySQL and Javascript.

The web developer will:

• Review and assess the current user, system and software requirements documentation;
• Formulate a development strategy and put forward objectives and a plan for development;
• Formulate and implement a method for documenting and unit testing the core SQL-based API;
• Specify and demonstrate the web technologies to be used on server and client platforms;
• Re-develop the "general use" and "call centre" web interfaces;
• Deploy a toolkit useful to third parties requiring customization or development of bespoke interfaces on desktop and mobile platforms;
• Implement processes to facilitate tracking of bug reports and feature requests relating to web interfaces.
• The web developer will be expected to operate largely autonomously and be capable of designing and implementing complex and scalable architectures using proven technologies. A period of at least six months is required in-office to acquire the needed product-specific knowledge. Subject to performance location is subsequently flexible.
• The candidate should have at least a BSc in software engineering or at least 5 years' experience implementing own designs in a web environment. The candidate will be required to submit at least 10k lines of code representative of prior work.
