    Africa Operations Head

    Job description

    Minimum Requirements

    • Structural / Mechanical /Civil Engineering background/MBA (Diploma/Degree Qualification)
    • Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA
    • Minimum of 8-10 year’s Operational experience of which 5 should be on Senior Management level
    • Designing/Drawing Capabilities Required
    • Excellent Computer Literacy essential
    • Industry knowledge preferable
    • Health and Safety knowledge (OHS Act)
    • Must have International experience (UK or Europe an advantage)
    • Must have a valid passport, to travel to Various Africa locations


    Key Tasks and Responsibilities

    Operations Role

    • Negotiations with Suppliers/Contractors/Councils
    • Maintain high operational standards / deadlines
    • Control of project budget - H & S and any other project that you head
    • Design steel advertising structures and oversee and sign off steel manufacturing
    • Quality control of product (new and existing) – Traditional and Airports
    • Accurate compilation of site sketches and building files
    • Ensure that integrity of data on all assets are updated – (Trimbled and locations verified)
    • Ensure that all assets are regularly maintained and per specific maintained schedule
    • All repairs and maintenance carried out, are to be reported to the applicable General Manager and follow up to ensure that this happens
    • Field reports are to be completed and submitted to RoA GM’s and CEO
    • Advise on local & SLA’s subcontract daily wages  
    • All opposition activity to be reported to the applicable General Manager & CEO
    • Liaise with Sales Department (SA and Local) and clients, CEO & RoA GM’s
    • Schedule provincial trips to inspect sites
    • Monthly report of Operation
    • Safety representative, report to the 16.2 appointee responsible for the Occupational Health and Safety Act
    • Check and control operational budget spending and report / recommend cost savings per country
    • Ensure that sub-contractors adhere to OHS Act
    • Train staff on various levels
    • Planning and project management of new builds / maintenance
    • Ensure that all Assets are appropriately branded with the Continental logo
    • Develop and roll-out Contagious innovations
    • Technical skills regarding wind loads, calculation if the structure can carry an additional load
    • Inspect and monitor quality of work performed on structures by maintenance crews
    • To be energetic, have a can-do attitude and be prepared to work hard and learn fast.
    • To drive certain special projects as delegated by the GM.
    • To form an opinion and offer solutions to the many challenges that the General Manager is faced with.
    • Assist with budget and financial control of the business on a monthly basis (in consultation with the GM)

    • Ability to liaise with city councils to ascertain/maintain Advertising Regulations
    • The ability to learn and apply new skills and knowledge
    • Ability to interact with clients at all levels
    • Strong self- discipline and motivation
    • Must be a team player
