    Human Resources Manager

    Job Description

    As the Human Resources Manager for the Johannesburg Distribution Centre, you will lead the HR function for the Facility of Parts Distribution (ISCD). You will support the Facility Manager, the local leadership team and supervisors by providing solid human resources advice. You are responsible for management, administration and execution of local human resources policies and will also oversee and supervise the payroll department.

    Job Duties/Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To

    • Deployment of the divisional HR imperatives within the facility (winning culture, intentional development & workforce architecture).
    • Provide direction and guidance to the Facility Manager, to the supervisors and to the EAME HR Manager on HR policies and procedures.
    • Actively participates in business team planning processes ensuring human resources is an integral part of the business strategy. Provide HR advice considering impact upon the company (financial), employee engagement, and consideration for the future (new practices, policies, and procedures).
    • Keep employees, managers and leadership members advised on changes in human resources policies & practices.
    • Assist managers in addressing individual and organizational effectiveness issues and compensation administration.
    • Provide direction to Facility Management in interpretation and application of employee-related policies, practices and procedures, as well as local legislation, governmental regulations, and internal investigations to enhance consistency and maintain and improve the work environment of the facility.
    • Provide employment and personnel services including staffing & onboarding, appropriate training, administering benefits.
    • Work together with Corporate Compensation in benchmarking data for merit, gain sharing, and short term incentive plan (STIP).
    • Design the implementation strategy of changes in reward.
    • Formulate and/or implement policies, practices and procedures related to employment practices and benefits.
    • Coordinate programs to ensure proper and effective staffing, personnel selection and practices, manpower and succession planning, skills development, training, policy & practice interpretation and application.
    • Manage & contact responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates, including all aspects of employee exit management.
    • Responsible for industrial relations (wage negotiations) and all union matters and able to sort out complex issues or problems, which require careful analysis and diagnosis.
    • Future responsibilities may evolve as we explore the possibility of serving other regional locations from the Johannesburg Distribution Centre.

    Essential

    • HR-related qualification or equivalent experience
    • Extensive background in the following human resources areas: industrial relations, employee benefits, compensation, employment practices, employee development, and training with a working knowledge of operations
    • A solid understanding and proven application of South African employment legislation
    • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible job-related HR experience in a multinational environment in South Africa.
    • Understand both traditional and non-traditional approaches to human resource management.
    • Integrity and excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, influencer & trusted advisor
    • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience of managing or leading change initiatives
    • Experience of payroll (in either hands-on or supervisory capacity)
    • Afrikaans and/or other local languages
