    Industrial Psychologist

    Job Description

    • Yoco is looking for Industrial Psychologist to join the recently formed People unit. The People unit is the custodian of the Yoco way of working, its human operations and employee experience. All to facilitate a high-performance organisation, underpinned by the natural strengths and engagement of staff. The People Unit consists of three main sub-units: Recruiting & Talent Management, Office & Productivity and Organisation Development. This role will be the first hire into the Organisation Development sub-unit within the People team.
    • In our team at Yoco and the way we work, we find our core ability to differentiate against the well-resourced and incumbent competition. Our team needs to stay in high-performance shape as the venture rapidly scales. We are looking for a forward-looking candidate, who combines strong conceptual thinking with excellent execution, staying ahead of the curve with the latest organisational development practices.
    • This position is ideal for you have at least five years plus of experience. Never a dull day at the office, you will employ psychological principles and research methods to solve problems in the workplace and improve the quality of life.

    ROLE | WHAT’S YOUR PURPOSE?

    • You have a natural ability to combine a scientific and human-centric approach to organisation development. Thinking long term and working with management to get the best out of individuals and teams. Working with the Recruiting & Talent Management and Office & Productivity sub-units to drive continuous improvement programmes ensuring our hiring, development and retention standards remain high as we scale. You will raise the hiring bar!

    IDEAL CANDIDATE | WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?

    • Collaborating with recruiting and talent management to develop and improve interview techniques, implement psychometric testing and skills rating that would determine the interests and abilities of an employee under consideration for employment or promotion.
    • Analyse job requirements and content to establish criteria for classification, selection, training, and other related personnel functions.
    • Working with the management team on organisation design, structure and future planning. Facilitating organisational development and change management.
    • Assisting with role and resource planning for teams.
    • Overall tracking of organisation, team and individual performance against firm objectives. Driving management by output culture and helping to implement systems /mechanisms to support.
    • Facilitation of group interaction and planning sessions during quarterly, monthly and bi-weekly sprint sessions. Improving relationships with colleagues through intra/inter-team development
    • Remaining up-to-date on organisational development topics by reading current research literature and how to apply the new knowledge to the workplace.
    • On top of cultural dynamics within the team, going a level deep into understanding the various demographics within the firm and subsequent nuances
    • Ongoing research studies of the physical work environment, organisational structures, communication systems, group interactions, morale, and motivation to assess organisational functioning
    • Formulate and implement training programs, applying principles of learning and individual differences.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE | WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

    Key Requirements To Perform Responsibilities

    • At least 5 years + experience in the field
    • Qualifications: Masters Degree + in the field
    • Experience in job profiling and job evaluation
    • Strong communication skills to disseminate ideas and drive adoption
    • Ability to solve complex people problems, make decisions and provide advice and consultation when needed
    • Knowledge of sociology and anthropology in order to understand group behavior and dynamics, their history or culture and any other relevant information for the job
    • Worked in a technology venture and startup (bonus)
