    Research Assistant, Enforcement & Exemptions Division

    Job description

    (A starting annual total cost to company package of R300 000)

    Two (2) year fixed term contract

    Minimum Requirements

    • An LLB, preferably an Admitted Attorney, with 1 - 2 years post articles experience and exposure in a legal environment.
    • OR
    • Honours degree in Economics. A Masters Degree or applicants studying towards a Masters Degree will be advantageous.
    • Minimum of six (6) months’ work experience in the area of research, competition law or economics.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the purpose and objectives of the Competition Act, the Competition Commission and the South African economy is highly recommended.
    • Training and experience in Industrial Organisation and/or International Trade is considered to be advantageous.
    • Strong analytical skills are essential.

    Duties And Key Responsibilities

    • Research, collect and compile data/information.
    • Maintain and update quantitative and qualitative economic databases.
    • Process, consolidate, and transform data sets within and between databases using statistical and/or econometric techniques.
    • Evaluate economic, financial or statistical relationships in databases.
    • Analyse economic time series data.
    • Assist with the rigorous economic analysis of data/information.
    • Assist in the administration and execution of activities to build capacity with regards to the economics of competition.
