    Claims Technician

    Job description

    Job purpose

    The Claims Technician is responsible for managing and handling non motor and third party claims.

    Key outcomes

    The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Claims Technician.

    CLAIMS : NON MOTOR OWN DAMAGE

    • Appoint assessor when applicable
    • Arrange and manage the assessment process
    • Arrange and manage the repair process where applicable
    • Submit notification to Insurer with the relevant supporting documentation
    • Obtain settlement quote/confirmation and advise client
    • Liaise with Underwriter regarding any changes to the policy
    • Escalate outstanding claims

    LIABILITY CLAIMS : NON MOTOR

    • Advise Insurer regarding potential losses
    • Escalate to Claims Manager
    • Submit relevant supporting documentation to Insurers
    • Notify relevant parties with regards to Employment Practices Liability Claims

    LIABILITY CLAIMS : THIRD PARTY

    • Advice Insurer of potential third party claims
    • Request quotes from third party
    • Submit relevant supporting documentation to Insurers
    • Update CIMS (estimates)

    CLAIMS : GENERAL

    • Register all new claims
    • Verify that cover is adequate and premiums are paid
    • Submit claim to the Insurer and advise client on status
    • Update CIMS (estimates, status, settlement amount)
    • Escalate rejected claims to broker/director

    Qualifications and experience

    • Matric/Grade 12
    • 3 years’ experience within a broking short term insurance environment
    • RE
    • FAIS competent - registered representative status preferable
    • Ability to communicate fluently (verbal and written) in English
