Barloworld Equipment requires the use of quantitative methods such as business simulations, data mining and advanced statistical techniques to solve problems and identify customer solutions based on available data. The Information Scientist contributes to this mission by leveraging his or her quantitative analysis-, data management-, and modelling and/or data visualization skills as an individual contributor to project teams tasked with solving business problems.
Use quantitative techniques to solve problems and identify potential solutions for After Sales;
Provide assistance to high-profile After sales projects;
Data collection (from various internal and external sources) and analysis;
Development, validation, application and refinement of statistical models;
Application of related digital technologies in processing both the inputs and outputs from the models.
Data Analytics - Use existing Barloworld Equipment information to drive data analytics and enable Product Support to have understanding of customers on how they interact with Barloworld Equipment, its products and predict what they want going forward so Barloworld Equipment can develop targeted customer solutions
Data Visualisation – use Barloworld Equipment ‘s data to identify patterns, trends and correlations that might go undetected
REQUIREMENTS OF CANDIDATES:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in statistics, economics, mathematics, or a similar field with quantitative coursework.
Requires 4-5 years of professional experience utilizing quantitative analysis.
Individual must have depth of knowledge in quantitative analytic methods, data management and/or associated digital technologies suitable to handle all but the most complex issues
Competencies required: Business Intelligence tools – Ability to work in MS Office and industry standard statistics and data visualization packages (i.e. Tableau, Statistica etc); Performance Ownership - Work completely and accurately under time constraints and deadlines; Analytical - be able to think analytically (develop, analyze and interpret reports) and be a problem solver; Have a strong focus on continual learning in the Analytics field; Teamwork – be able to work independently and within a team; Safety First - Work in a safe and effective manner
