    Payroll Manager

    Job description

    The team and role

    Working as part of the Global HR Operations Team, overseeing a population of over 950 employees, you will have responsibility for overseeing the processing and reconciling of the company’s global payroll and employee benefits for all locations (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, USA, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Netherlands, Guernsey, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy and UK.

    While the role is based in our Cape Town office, the responsibilities are global in nature. You will be a member of a 4 person HR Operations Team (3 in Cape Town, 1 in London) and the broader HR team (25 in total).

    The Ideal candidate

    • The successful candidate should have a strong eye for detail and be an excellent communicator who has the ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Given the nature of the role, there is a reasonable requirement to be involved in the detailed work on a day to day basis. Consequently, this role would not appeal to someone looking for a pure advisory or oversight role.
    • Key responsibilities (but not limited to) include:
    • Management of global payroll processes for regions specified above, including but not limited to:
    • Managing relationship with Group/Outsourced payroll providers;
    • Undertaking/Reviewing monthly payroll & share reconciliations with assistance from the HR Operations associates;
    • Liaising with the Global Finance team including invoice processing; and
    • Acting as point of contact for employee payroll queries.

    Management of global benefit administration for regions specified above, including but not limited to:

    • Managing relationships with Group/external providers;
    • Assisting with benefits renewal processes with vendors/Group;
    • Ensuring suite of benefits literature is readily available and information is up-to-date;
    • In conjunction with the HR Operations Manager, proactively keeping abreast of regulatory/legislative changes impacting the provision of our employee benefits offerings; and
    • Acting as point of contact for employee benefits queries.
    • Assistance with requests for Global Management Information (MI) data internally and externally for the HR team.

    Oversight of the HR Information System for regions specified above, including but not limited to:

    • Inputting new starters;
    • Inputting leavers;
    • Ongoing maintenance of employee records in respect to life cycle and organisational changes (e.g. transfers, changes in contract status, changes in working pattern, contract extensions, cost centre changes, manager changes);
    • PDRs (appraisals);
    • Acting as a point of contact for employees queries in relation to HR system; and
    • Responsible for annual leave management processes

    Technical Knowledge and Experience

    • Degree qualified
    • Relevant payroll oversight and benefits experience gained from within a global organisation; financial services/professional services, in-house or reward specific regulatory environment (preferable)
    • 5 to 10 years relevant experience
    • Stakeholder/vendor management experience essential
    • Systems Skills
    • Advanced Excel
