The Road Accident Fund is a state insurer established by statute, it provides insurance cover to all drivers of motor vehicles in South Africa in respect of liability incurred or damage caused as a result of a traffic collision. Liability incurred in relation to property damage (such as damage to vehicles, buildings, vehicle contents) is excluded from cover.

Job description

Purpose of the Job: To provide claims handling to ensure prompt and fair settlement of claims.

Key Performance Areas
- Estimate and update value of loss
- Acquire expert advice
- Quantify benefits
- Make an offer to settle
- Assess and calculate loss of support and funeral accounts
- Evaluate interim payment request
- Liaise with WCC or Employer Individually Liable
- Assist with road shows
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant B. Degree/National Diploma at NQF Level 6 or equivalent qualification
- 3 years claims experience.
Core Competencies
- Detail orientated and analytical thinker
- Decision maker
- Negotiation skills
- Time and Desk Management
- Knowledge of RAF Act, Amendment Act and third party law
- Knowledge of updates of earnings table, pension fund and the impact on loss of support
- Knowledge of rules of collateral and accelerated benefits.
- Computer literacy
- Logical thinking, sound reasoning & accuracy.
