    Officer Direct Claims (East London)

    Job description

    Purpose of the Job: To provide claims handling to ensure prompt and fair settlement of claims.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Estimate and update value of loss
    • Acquire expert advice
    • Quantify benefits
    • Make an offer to settle
    • Assess and calculate loss of support and funeral accounts
    • Evaluate interim payment request
    • Liaise with WCC or Employer Individually Liable
    • Assist with road shows

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Relevant B. Degree/National Diploma at NQF Level 6 or equivalent qualification
    • 3 years claims experience.

    • Knowledge of RAF Act, Amendment Act and third party law
    • Knowledge of updates of earnings table, pension fund and the impact on loss of support

    Writs Officer

    Job description

    Purpose of the job: The incumbent will be responsible for the effective and efficient processing of valid writs.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Assess writs.
    • Initiate SLA breaches by Panel Attorneys.
    • Instruct Panel Attorney to oppose motion applications or to set aside invalid writs.
    • Initiate referrals to Recourse and Recoveries.
    • Monitor and manage compliance with RAF tariffs.
    • Authorize valid writs within prescribed time frames.
    • Prevent accumulation of interest and sheriff costs.
    • Compile and maintain statistics on departmental activities for management re-reporting.
    • Keep records of writs, and referrals to Recourse and Recoveries.
    • Attend to queries.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • B Degree in Law at NQF Level 6/7 or equivalent
    • Relevant 3 years’ experience in a Claims/ Legal environment.
