    Tax Manager

    Job description

    Main Purpose

    • To ensure all operational tasks are completed accurately and timeously
    • To ensure all SARS deadlines are accurately and timeously met.
    • To ensure no penalties and interest is levied against the Company or client
    • To compile internal and external reports
    • To plan & prioritise all tasks, workflow and resources and ensure that goals are met
    • To ensure reporting staff are up to date with legislation and knowledge required to do current work.
    • To assist with projects to ensure operations stays up to date with the current legislation etc.
    • To build and maintain good relationships internally and externally
    • To assist Branch Manager with adhoc tasks when required
    • To assist branch with segregation of duties
    • To ensure all procedure and policies are kept up todate

    Required Experience

    • 5 years related taxation services experience - Necessity
    • 3 years managerial experience required
    • Sound knowledge of Excel and Word
    • Sound knowledge of Easy File and e-filing
    • Sound knowledge of SARS’ procedures and BRS’
    • LISP and retirement knowledge is advantageous

    Level Summary

    • Position requires a person with a sound mind with a Taxation qualification and 5 years experience in an equivalent taxation field with a 3 year Managerial experience the candidate must have a sound knowledge of Excel, Word, SARS e-filing, SARS e@syfile and SARS’ BRS (Advantage). The candidate must have good communication skills and must be able to conduct themselves in a very professional manner and must be able to handle high stressful situations.
    • Candidate must understand and know the procedures of SARS to assist the clients in sorting out client and Fund queries with SARS
    • Knowledge of LISP and Retirement Industry will be very advantageous for the candidate
    • Candidate must be able to adapt to situations quickly and must be solution driven
    • Candidate must be mature and emotionally intelligent
    • Candidate must be willing to assist Branch Manager and Branch with Ad hoc tasks as and when required.
    • Decision Making and planning
    • To make appropriate and timely decisions which have the minimal impact to the Company and client.
    • To plan & prioritise all tasks, workflow and resources and ensure that goals are met and that deadlines are NOT missed
    • Resolve conflict within own team and company with minimal assistance from Branch Manager
    • Make executive decisions when required
    • Candidate must take responsibility for decision made

    Technical

    • Strong knowledge of Tax and Tax legislation
    • Strong knowledge of Excel and Word
    • Strong knowledge of Client Services
    • Good Managerial skills
    • Good oral & written communication skills
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Excellent planning skills
