    Vetting Manager - Group

    Job description

    The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for the effective operational management of people, processes and priorities of the credit vetting operations function to ensure operational effectiveness and to deliver on applicable operational targets

    Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

    • Operational management of the entire vetting area including:
      • Customer order processing
      • Document chasing and indexing
      • Affordability salvaging
      • Credit underwriting
    • Ensure the vetting area is appropriately staffed to meet operational requirements and targets
    • Responsible to ensure the vetting area is delivering according to the business plan and targets within budget
    • Ensure productivity is optimised through the effective management of the area and driving best practice
    • Ensure resources and structures supports long term growth objectives
    • Ensure the vetting area runs in accordance with relevant legislation
    • Maintain awareness of external influences such as legislation and manage accordingly to keep efficiencies and to meet and manage targets
    • Foster an environment that encourages and rewards innovation and challenges current methodologies with a view to improve operational efficiencies across the business
    • Assist in identifying, developing, evaluating, implementing or improving new procedures to improve the vetting area service levels and reduce costs
    • Accurately balance risk and trends in driving innovation in the organization through effective testing and analysis within the area
    • Keep informed regarding pending changes in the credit industry, legislation, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes
    • Ensure a comprehensive audit plan is in place and reviewed on an annual basis
    • Interact effectively with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the vetting area

    Requirements

    Qualifications & Accreditations

    Bachelor degree in Business, Economics and / or Risk Management (Bachelor of Commerce)

    Experience & Skills

    • A minimum of 7 years' experience in the credit operations environment is essential, preferably in the Consumer Retail and / or Consumer Financial Services Sector
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a team at middle management level
    • Excellent understanding of legislation governing the credit and debt recovery industry, specifically the National Credit Act
    • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet
