Job description

Applicants are invited for the above-indicated vacancy that exists in the Central Finance Division. The incumbent will report directly to the Central Finance Manager.

MAIN DUTIES:

• Daily / Month End Processes and Invoicing
• Manage and approve intercompany journals and invoices and ensure that the balances are according to reporting requirements and agree 100% to counterparties
• Manage and approve prepayment journals and balances and ensure that the prepayment release and balances are according to IFRS
• Manage and approve cashbook journals and ensure monies have been allocated correctly
• Review uploaded forex rates to ensure accuracy
• Monitor the reversal of previous months reversing journals to ensure accurate reporting
• Monitor the completion of intercompany and prepayments reconciliations on a monthly basis as per timelines
• Review all bank reconciliation statements for accuracy and completeness, resolve issues speedily, and ensure best practices have been adhered to
• Review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts within your responsibility and ensure any long outstanding items are cleared timeously
• Ensure that the overall quality of reconciliations done is in line with best practices
• Manage the reconciliation of intercompany balances on Cognos to ensure that intercompanies balances 100% with counterparties, before locking the submission
• Prepare and review TM1 management accounts before submission to Commercial Finance
• Manage and oversee month end and year end Cognos submission processes and procedures (Sales & Marketing and Forex Assist)
• Review submission of Cognos management accounts before the submission gets locked
• Analyse and understand actual data within the accounting records to ensure completeness, accuracy, validity and correct disclosure according to standards and regulations
• Manage and oversee Global Sales submission into the database
• Budgets and Forecasts
• Manage and oversee the preparation of intercompany (balance sheet and income statement) budgets and forecasts (Sales & Marketing and Forex Assist)
• Manage and oversee the preparation of Central Expenses budgets and forecasts for divisions under your area of responsibility
• Manage and oversee the preparation of below the line Income Statement entries for budgets and forecasts (Sales & Marketing)
• Preparation of Balance Sheet forecasts and budgets on General Ledger accounts within your area of responsibility (Sales & Marketing)
• Manage the reconciliation of intercompany balances on Cognos to ensure that intercompanies balances 100% with counterparties, before locking the submission
• Supplementary Processes
• Manage and oversee active collection of intercompany debtors amounts due to the company
• Source, provide and manage information required (e.g. country by country report, tax schedules, global sales reporting, year-end audit packs, etc.) by stakeholders (e.g. Tax and Holdings team) in the format required by the stakeholders, and within deadlines stipulated
• Prepare and manage the annual impairments review and calculations
• Plan knowledge management and ensure backup resourcing to avoid loss of knowledge/information due to attrition
• Ensure creditors are paid timeously by authorising and releasing creditors payments on time, as per agreements with Accounts Payable department
• Provide necessary response to audit queries and investigate and resolve audit differences and other audit issues
• Monitor, follow up and present audit findings to management on a quarterly basis
• Analysis
• Detailed review and analysis of all (actuals, budgets, forecasts, 5 year plan) Sales & Marketing management accounts submissions to Commercial Finance and Holdings teams for reasonableness and accuracy of the amounts
• Review of Central Expenses analysis for divisions within your area of responsibility to ensure accuracy of commentary and timely reporting for all reporting periods
• Provide input to the Central Finance Manager on Balance Sheet analysis
• General
• Provide technical expertise and guidance for the Reporting function
• Manage the resolution of reporting queries/escalations
• System Maintenance
• Ensure that all required changes have been made to the TM1 and Cognos reporting systems (accurate mapping of accounts and cost centres, locking of reporting periods, maintenance of management accounts hierarchy and reports)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

• Matric/Grade 12
• B.Com Accounting degree or equivalent
• B.Com Hons degree (CTA)
• CA (SA)
• 2 – 3 years post articles experience
• Computer literacy: Advanced Excel
• Experience in people management, reporting and analysis

Preferable:

• 3 – 5 years post articles experience
• BAAN/Cognos Controller/Cognos TM1 systems knowledge, an advantage
• Experience in pharmaceutical industry
