MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The role of the Wordpress developer is to analyse support tasks and to either resolve them immediately or pass them to the second level support team if an issue requires more investigation or extra development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review support tasks and resolve them where possible
• Work with the remote support developers to complete issues timeously
• Maintain a high level of productivity from the support team
• Provide accurate estimates
• Assisting customer support staff and project managers with ad-hoc problems and queries

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, PROVEN ABILITY OR ROLE SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Knowledge of PHP and WordPress. The ability to modify and create themes from scratch.
• Good understanding of cross-browser compatibility and web accessibility standards/best practices
• Knowledge and understanding of UI usability and best practices with a feel for good user experience
• Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and creative problem solving skills and a passion for the latest trends in front-end development and technology

• Relevant experience/diploma/degree or qualification

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Integration of HTML/CSS and JavaScript into WordPress
• An understanding of SEO fundamentals and best practices
• Agency experience
• Experience working with Agile development techniques
• Experience with version control, preferably Git
• A portfolio of work which can be reviewed online. e.g. : Website, GitHub/Stack Overflow profile or links to previous projects
