Role Purpose:

The primary function of the position is to assist in providing excellent financial and general administrative services to the Company.

Key Responsibilities

• Month end close and related procedures for all SSAF entities:
• Updating and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations
• Monthly journal vouchers
• P&L and BS review
• Daily operational tasks (AR/AP/GL queries)
• Dealing with Shared Service Centre issues when they arise
• Assisting in reserve bank applications and foreign payments
• Invoicing of customers (where manual invoices are required)
• Statutory and legal compliance for both Africa and South Africa
• Assisting with Tax and Vat compliance
• Internal procedure adherence and implementation
• P&L analysis of entities vs Forecast
• Audit assistance (both internal and external)
• Preparation of evidence required for SSAF entities
• Preparation and review of AFS disclosures
• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
• Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
• Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
• Develop and maintain financial data bases
• Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenue and expenses
• Analyse and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues
• Analyse financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
• Support the Financial Controller in their tasks
• Assist in any general ad hoc tasks

This is an individual contributor role and you will be reporting to Financial Controller (Financial Controller is reporting to Financial Manager).

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken
• Be a logical thinker with strong financial, administrative and organisational skills
• Be extremely accurate and always work with the utmost attention to detail
• A clear understanding of IFRS including consolidations
• The ability to analyze and interpret financials and implement improvements thereof according to policies and procedures
• Be able to work independently and in a team environment and be able to liaise with an international shared service center
• Must be committed, positive and hardworking and exhibit judgement and problem-solving skills
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Key Competencies

• Qualified Accountant (CA(SA), CIMA) with minimum 1 year post-qualification experience
• Knowledge of statutory accounts preparation
• Knowledge of SA VAT & Corporation tax
• Up to date understanding of IFRS
• Advanced MS Excel and Word skills
• Good understanding of policies, controls and procedures
• Ability to use additional financial and administrative applications as required
• Experience in Oracle and Pastel will be advantageous
• Experience in dealing with multiple foreign currencies preferable
