Job description

The Junior Product Manager contributes to the organisational goals by assisting the Product Manager with day to day product management responsibilities. This with a view to free-up the Product Manager to focus on the strategic component of developing and implementing propositions, business case development and achievement of targets therein. The Junior Product Managers day to day product management responsibilities include product performance reporting and analysis, generating insights from reports, preparation of product reporting packs for various stakeholders, competitor analysis on product propositions, representing the Product Manager at meetings where required and other adhoc activities as deemed required by the broader Product Team.

Job Objectives/Outputs

• Product reporting and Analysis
• Engage with key stakeholders to identify key metrics and associated reports which need to be provided on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
• Engage with various business areas to implement identified reports
• Ensure reports and data is analysed and key insights surfaced to stakeholders
• Careful monitoring of all “live” report data to ensure management are alerted timeously to issues
• A detailed pack of product performance against all business case targets along with insights and solutions to be prepared and presented to various stakeholders
• Ensuring all reports are accurate and metrics aligned to targets
• Research and Competitor Benchmarking:
• Scope, implement and update a detailed Competitor Review into propositions and products.
• Assist with the research and benchmarking components, including SWOT and GAP analysis into proposed products and propositions vs. Competitors
• Research
• Engage with research team on qualitative and quantitative research requirements as deemed necessary by the product team.
• Financial and Supplier Management:
• Manage the processing of checking, sourcing approval and submitting Product Invoices to finance to ensure timeous payment
• Engage with Procurement Team to ensure all vendor forms have been loaded with a view to expedite payment
• Manages pricing and costs against budgets for adhoc initiatives

Educational Requirements:

Essential:

• Grade 12 (Standard 10) with University Entrance (NQF4)
• A relevant 3 year Business degree

Desirable:

Honours Qualification in a relevant Business Degree

Experience:

Essential:

• 1-2 years’ work experience within a product management and product development team
