    Senior PR Consultant / Account Director

    Job description

    Meropa Communications Port Elizabeth (one of the fastest-growing PR consulting firms in the Eastern Cape, the only agency in the province ranked amongst the top 350 global agencies by The Holmes Report, and Africa PR agency of the year finalist 2017) is looking for a Senior Public Relations Consultant level candidate in the public relations industry.

    The successful candidate will be required to work across a broad spectrum of clients in both the private and public sector space. Experience in parastatal, automotive, and corporate communications is a plus. We are looking for a creative and strategic individual with strong writing and journalistic skills. The successful candidate needs to be an independent thinker and actor, but should also be able work in a team environment.

    • Excellent media relations & contacts;
    • Stakeholder management and engagement skills;
    • Project management and multi-tasking expertise;

    • Exceptional writing skills, including the ability to write:
      • for different media channels (print, electronic & digital, and broadcast)
      • news stories, features and opinion pieces / thought leadership articles
      • proposals, reports and edit documents;
    • Computing skills; and
    • Management skills

    Minimum requirements:

    • Degree or relevant qualification in PR / Communications / Journalism; (post-graduate qualifications in media, PR or communications an advantage)
    • A minimum of 5 years public relations experience, preferably within an agency environment;
    • PC, and Microsoft Office proficiency;
    • § English and Xhosa proficiency;
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and research skills; and
    • Drivers licence with own car

    Salary: negotiable depending on experience.
