PURPOSE / DETAILS OF THE JOB

To ensure continuous compliance with regulations and systems.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Matric
• 5 years’ experience in Accounting and APDP
• BCom Degree

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Compliance and optimisation to/of Customs & Excise and related regulation/legislation adhered to and process/system functioning in place to achieve the aforementioned.
• Compliance to Customs and Excise, Environmental Levies regulations/legislation adhered to and process/system functioning in place to achieve the aforementioned.
• Compliance and optimisation of/to APDP regulations/ ITAC guidelines and other related government motor industry programmes (e.g.: NIPP, AIS, etc.) to maximize potential benefits and relationships.
• Compliance to and optimisation of APDP/PRCC regulation adhered to and process/system functioning in place to achieve the aforementioned.
• Enforce and apply proper financial control over related accounting of APDP Accounts, Excise Accounts, Environmental Levy Accounts, PRCC claims, including appropriate Database maintenance.
• Strong government (ITAC, SARS, etc.), NAAMSA, Audit stakeholder relationships formed and supported.
• Ad hoc activities/investigations.

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS CRITICAL ATTRIBUTES

• Customs & Excise tax
• Advalorem, CO2 emissions, Green Tyre (Indirect taxes act)
• MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
• General accounting knowledge (Knowledge and understanding of general ledger accounting)
• Essbase (Preferred)
• SAP (Preferred)
• Motor Industry Knowledge/Manufacturing Knowledge (Preferential)
• Knowledge of the APDP Regulations
• Ability to interpret and apply Customs & Excise tax law, and indirect motor industry taxes
• Ability to interpret and apply ITAC, APDP, AIS guidelines and requirements
• Managerial, interpersonal, people and team skills (Strong people management skill)
• Strong ability to network, manage and build relationship business partnering skill
• Good Communication Skills (Expression of self & understanding of others)
• Organizational ability and application and implementation of practical process and structures
• Ability to co-ordinate ("project manage/process manage")
• Ability to identify problems and practical solutions to overcome problems
• Advanced Excel and understanding of systems
• Sound judgment in applying financial management principles
• Analysis, understanding and interpretation of data/information
• Ability to drive delivery and quality of delivery from the team in pressure situations & maintain required standards
• Ability to view "the big picture" and drive achievement of the big picture
• Very strong general and intuitive knowledge, to pick up on aspects (risks/opportunities/problems etc.)
• Establish information networks to search for and gather Customs information
• Ability to deal with Management and interact with co-workers, suppliers and consultants
• Ability to perform under pressure and maintain required standards
• Ability to plan and manage meetings
• Ability to identify problems and change them into opportunities
