Field Marketing Specialist at Bayer

Ensure development and implementation of stewardship programs of our portfolio and integrated solutions in order to ensure our License to operate in a sustainable manner

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

• Train and accredit emerging and commercial farm workers as well as Bayer team in the Responsible Use of agricultural chemicals. This will include training on :
• Application Technology
• Responsible Use
• Resistance Management
• Stewardship of Portfolio including Easy Flow, PhytoBac, operator

• Train emerging and commercial farmers in stewardship and Good Agricultural Practice (SS)
• Implement stewardship and responsible use initiatives related to the Bayer product range through training and demonstration. This includes maintaining a database of attendance after successful completion.
• Network, demonstrate and ensure awareness of the value proposition and sustainability of the Bayer Portfolio to farmers, extension officers, community leaders, agricultural institutions and NGO’s.
• Create awareness, record, report counterfeit activities and implement counter strategies.
• Link regional distributors with agricultural development projects in order to create demand and facilitate the sales of the Bayer portfolio to merging farmers in South Africa
• Draft and publish articles aimed at promoting responsible crop protection of Bayer portfolio. This includes participation in media channels including print media, radio, TV and social
• media in order to promote sound stewardship and good agricultural practices incorporating the Bayer portfolio
• Represent Bayer on the Croplife FRAC, IRAC and HRAC platforms and champion the roll out of campaigns to promote the responsible positioning of our product offer
• Lead the container recycling campaign
• Facilitate Regional and Global interaction to ensure alignment to global standards

Who you are:

•  B Sc or Higher Diploma in biological sciences
• At least 3- 5 years experience in Agricultural Extension
• Good presentation skills.
• Understanding of cultural correctness and the observance of protocol
• required by complex tribal customs needs ongoing attention.
• Communicate verbally in English, Afrikaans and at least two African languages (Zulu, Xhosa or Sotho).
• Self motivation and discipline are key requirements.
• The job demands a high level of respect for ability from highly
• positioned persons within government and the private sector in order to
• effectively contribute to agricultural policy in the country.
• Ability to use Powerpoint, Word and Excel.
