    Key Account Manager

    Job description

    Are you an expert in digital and print media advertising sales, with advanced knowledge of digital advertising and a strong relationship with food and lifestyle clients?

    New Media is looking for a self-starting media sales guru to work on Eat Out, SA’s best guide to SA’s best food. A premier brand with a wealth of high-profile clients, Eat Out is constantly innovating to find new ways to reach its immense community of engaged fans. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about making connections between great brands and a growing audience. This position is based in Cape Town and the successful candidate will represent Eat Out as well as other publications in the stable.

    Principal responsibilities

    • Driving revenue achievement and brainstorming ideas with the team involved
    • Assisting the sales team with analysing and identifying which accounts are key to the company at any one time (i.e. produce most of the profit for the company), and implementing procedures to ensure that they receive premium customer service
    • Developing and implementing key account plans and approaches in line with the overall strategy formulated by management (regional/national)
    • Identifying and generating new business opportunities for key customers in order to achieve predetermined sales targets and margins
    • Preparing and presenting sales proposals and presentations to new and existing key clients to negotiate and close deals
    • Creating tailored solutions that meet clients’ short- and long-term needs across print, digital and other platforms that are available, to offer 360-degree integrated campaigns
    • Building strategic working relationships with clients and maintaining a high level of client contact (telephonic and face to face) to ensure that their specific requirements are addressed, and monitoring and growing existing business
    • Analysing potential sales opportunities by using data analyses, segmented research and information available to identify the attributes most valued by these potential clients
    • Providing professional and exceptional client service in all interactions with clients
    • Closely monitoring competitors and maintaining client database
    • Reporting on sales opportunities and achievements as required (weekly and monthly)
    • Maintaining a high level of relevant industry knowledge
    • Managing and developing agency relationships

    Essential requirements

    • Minimum three years of experience in online advertising sales
    • Minimum five years of experience in media advertising sales
    • Great agency relationships
    • Excellent relationships with direct clients
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Proficient in online advertising
    • Knowledge of web-analytics tools is beneficial
    • Articulate and dynamic
    • Highly organised
    • Good presentation skills
    • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • A qualification in marketing or digital marketing will be advantageous
