Accounting Clerk: Financial Accounting, Ref No. DEDAT 29/2024 at Western Cape Government

Job Purpose    

• The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to deliver an effective and efficient financial service regarding miscellaneous payments and creditors as well as handling of State money to the Department and maintain a healthy accounting practice. 

Minimum Requirements    

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification). 

Recommendation    

• An appropriate tertiary qualification or in the process of completion in Accounting/Financial Management as a subject; Relevant experience/exposure working in a financial accounting environment; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.

Key Performance Areas    

• Render financial accounting services; Perform salary administration support services; Bookkeeping support services.

Competencies    

• A good understanding of the following: Financial background (Public Sector Finance recommended); Accounting principles; Public Finance Management Act; National and Provincial Treasury Regulations and Directives; Basic Accounting System (BAS and Personnel and Salary Administration (PERSAL) Skills in the following: Written and verbal communication; Numeracy and literacy; Proven computer literacy; Problem-solving, analytical and people management skills; Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines; Ability to work independently and part of a team.
