Anti-Poaching Unit Gate Guard (2 vacancies) at South African National Parks (SANParks)

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 (Std 10) Certificate.
• Successful completion of Ranger Fitness Selection Program.
• Accredited Basic Field Ranger Training (will be an advantage)
• Relevant experience in conservation will be an advantage.
• Relevant experience in security/access control will be an advantage.
• Working knowledge of relevant conservation legislation.
• Must be willing to undergo a medical exam.

Responsibilities

• Law Enforcement that will include participating in Access Control, Secure Workspace, Reporting and Communication.
• To resolve minor conflicts that may arise at the entrance gate.
• To provide detailed information to guests about the park.
• To prevent unauthorized removal of the park’s property
• To guard the entrance gate at the park.
• To open the gate to allow employees, deliveries, contractors, and authorized guests to enter the park.
• Check the credentials before allowing anyone to enter the park.
• To control traffic to and from the park’s buildings and grounds.
• To direct guests and authorized personnel to various parts of the park
• To perform maintenance duties such as mowing lawns and sweeping gate areas; etc.
• To record the arrival and departure of both employees and guests

• The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson B1 job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Services of SANParks.
• Appointment will be in accordance with EE Plan targets.
