Architectural Technologist at SMEC

The role 

We are currently seeking a talented Architectural Technologist in our Roads & Highways section in our Bloemfontein office. The person will need to provide Architectural services and prepare documentation for projects as well as provide other appropriate Architectural support.

With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.

• Build SMEC's brand regionally & Nationally as a leading consultant with a strong reputation for innovation, technical excellence, quality, and project delivery
• Assist the Regions to achieve sustainable growth of the group through targeted client relationship management and business development activity
• When required, provide project governance, at project manager level, of project management in the group to achieve reliable project performance in terms of sophistication, timeliness, and quality
• Support functional management to provide leadership to the employees in the group to ensure cohesion, optimal performance, resourcing, retention, and professional development

REPORTS TO

Section Manager or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interpret and understand the design brief
• Prepare and Produce documentation as per the Architectural Project Cycle (From Concept, Documentation, and Construction to Close-Out);
• Architectural Drawings
• 3D models
• Rendering
• Presentations
• Tender & Construction Documentation
• As part of the team produce and develop documentation and drawings relevant to the task
• Work within a project programme
• Liaison with External Consultants, Contractor/Site, Architects of Record as well as with the Client.
• Able to work within a structured document management system and be accountable for upholding that system.
• Goal of future registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• B.Arch.Stud / B.Tech in Architecture
• 3-5 years Architectural experience
• Experience in the use of Revit & Autodesk Package
• Adobe Photoshop & Indesign and other relevant software
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
