Art Gallery Sales Consultant at Benguela Cove

Benguela Cove is seeking to recruit a Art gallery sales consultant.   

We are recruiting a Gallery salesperson, who will need to have a love of art and sculpture. The successful applicant will have strong sales skills, business and commercial acumen and excellent interpersonal skills to ensure the smooth running and success of the gallery.   

You will have responsibility for the sales and marketing of the commercial gallery and will communicate directly with consumers wishing to purchase the art as well as dealers. Your role is to maximize the return on the exhibition for both Benguela Cove and the artist.  

Your duties will primarily be front of house duties

• Smooth running of the gallery

• Securing artists and curating new exhibitions

• Negotiating and concluding sales

• Arrangement of shipping and liaison with artist

• Ensuring timely invoicing and liaison with buyers

• Promoting and selling of artists work

• Cataloging art

• Building relationships and database of buyers

• Oversee art sold

• Curate shows

• Ability to curate art tours and walks

• Arrange transportation and packaging of works as required

• Ensure correct installation of artwork and ensure maintenance is of a high standard

• Develop and update the website

• General admin, finances and accounts as necessary

Qualifications

Previous experience in a similar role would be ideal. Candidates should ideally be graduates with a degree in:

• Art history/history of art

• Arts management

• Business studies

• Fine art/visual art

• Marketing and sales

• Modern languages

This role will require weekend work on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
