Artisan: Energy Operation, Maintenance & Metering at Govan Mbeki Municipality

Requirements:

• Grade 12 and or N3
• Trade Test as Electrician
• Computer Literacy
• Code C1 Driver’s License with PDP or PDP to be obtained within 6 months from date of appointment
• Three (3) years relevant experience after completion of Trade Test
• Good knowledge of maintenance on electrical distribution services.
• Good communication, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
• The successful applicant / candidate must possess competencies as published in Annexure A of the Local Government:
• Municipal Staff Regulations promulgated in Government Gazette 45181 of 20 September 2021

Key Performance Areas:

• Attending to customer complaints
• Attend and manages multiple tasks and details by focusing on key priorities and delegation to others
• Construction and maintenance of overhead distribution lines.
• Installation, maintenance and testing of transformers and switchgear.
• Terminating and jointing of high, medium and low voltage cables.
• Perform standby duties outside normal working hours.
• Carry out switching operations under supervision
• Installation and maintenance of household, business and industrial connections.
• Installation and maintenance of mini-substation, ring main units and substations.
• Investigate electrical problems and perform necessary trouble shooting to find the fault.
• Be able to read and analyse electrical drawings
